There's an easy solution: If an undocked entity can't move in any direction it stays aligned to its host and no collision checks are made. It physically remains part of the ship, only the power/thrust/cargo transfer is cut off.
It isn't even possible to distinguish between 'internal' and...
I don't understand why the power softcap was introduced at all, there are better mathematical solutions for diminishing returns on bigger ships' energy production. If the dimensional bonus grew logarithmical but uncapped we'd have a similar effect, but no need for docked reactors.
Crimson-Artist also suggested bonus damage to structure, so we would not have to go through the entire HP pool. Plus, we could circumvent almost the entire armor and armor HP pool. This would reduce armor to a decorational block.
Thank you, that worked. Actually it didn't work at first since I was logged in as Malacodor01 instead of Malacodor. The real problem was the wrong user name, no idea how that happened.
The game tells me that shipyard modules have to be arranged in a C-shape. Does this mean that I can make an almost closed circle or does it rather have to be a U-shape?
It must be relatively new, it wasn't in my settings.cgf. It either has to be added manually, or by deleting the settings.cgf and starting the game, which will create an up-to-date file.
