Need to add a way for docked entities to apply thrust to the mother ship which I think was being planned already.
The sail raise and lowering would use the door block function when off that sail block does not apply thrust.

If you are an admin you can get in the ship using tab+F8 other than that you might need to get a buddy to unload the design, then you position yourself near the core, then he reloads the design, you should be able to access the core this way .

Sounds like you might have one of the cores aligned incorrectly. I've had the correct alignment of docking blocks but the core was facing perpendicular to the vertical and horizontal movement planes. In other words your ship core is either facing towards the turret axis block or directly away...
You use the initial docked ship on the shipyard anchor as the docking entity for everything else on the asteroid. When you need to modify it while docked, just place temporary shipyard frames outside till done remodeling, then remove them.
