I considered having punch make it do AHP or HP damage but then I realised that would make it a weapon that, autohits, ignores shields, and leaves a totally intact ship for salvage, which of course would be unimaginably overpowered.
First of all swarmers also don't require aiming, and while it can hit multiple ships at a time it does not do full damage to every ship, if the closest ship has 6000 shields and it does 5000 damage then it will do 5000 damage to the closest ship and 0 damage to any other ships.
Secondly...
Remember that it wouldn't do any extra damage compared to to other weapons, in fact since it can't use ion it would in fact have half the shield DPS of a missile/missile/ion on a logic clock.
Disclamer: All numbers and formula presented in the post are purely there as examples.
Its a fairly simple idea that could make pulse a viable and interesting weapon within the meta, the main focus of the suggestion is to make pulses useful in combat without incuring the heavy performance loss...
You realise turrets almost always point their barrels about 15 degrees away from where they're aiming so logic fired weapons on a turret will almost never hit right? Unless your using guided torps of course.
Got the track part of my track finished, its a fairly small track with lots of corners so don't expect to reach amazing top speeds, the main thing will be the obstacles getting added later.
Sort of late to the topic but way further down the line when legendary ships become a thing can we get experienced community members to design the weapon systems on them? Just to make them extra dangerous and legendary feeling.
It was my attempt at a squid ship, tentacles work well and actually grab things on a small scale but apparently schines turret aiming code is very similiar to Auto-IK which means it spazzes out if it can't physically reach its target.
I remember you vaguely, what was the last major update before you vanished? becuase its easier to work it out from that than it is to work things out from a date. Also building standards are much higher than before.
People have been digging into warheads for years and no one has yet found a system good enough to be adopted by the userbase as a whole. Warheads being an incredibly niche weapon is actually the most viable status they have ever enjoyed.
Ok admitedly I only read the first page of this thread before I couldn't take the constant whining on both sides anymore. The way I see it is that warheads are clearly not viable because if they were then people would actually use them, at current no one uses them for real combat in any...
