Just to clarify what he meant, only the - , - , - sectors (null-sec sectors) are pvp. The rest is build only. (So 7/8 of the server is build only, and only 1/8 is pvp)

You need to be in a faction to prevent that from happening. You also shouldn't forget to put a faction module on your ship and every turret on that ship.
You should of course have an option on your ship to switch that function off. That should be enough to prevent griefing.
And yes, this is a necessity. And I'm not talking about the option, I am talking about the ability to transfer storage between docked ships (or ships docked to stations).
