Isn't that already in-game. If I remember correctly, damage to armour blocks is by % diverted to the Armour HP (AHP) of the ship. Better armours divert move of the % damage to the AHP. Imagine the AHP as your damage buffer.
Punch defensive effect increases the % damage diverted to AHP...
Opps I think I just ran into something that might by why your having that issue. I accidentally did 100 blocks in the wrong direction extending the bounding box shown by the mirror planes. It didn't retract when I removed the excess.
The dimensions will only show for the entity that your in. All it takes is one docked door or something with a loose block. Otherwise best guess to find the issue would be to blueprint the station and in a new SP world spawn in it and see it has the same issue there.
Has the game be restarted...
Just encase this might be the problem is any of the ships docked to the station have large dimensions? If I remember right, the docked ships should also expand the bounding box.
If that doesn't help, a saved blueprint of the station with docked ships might allow someone to find out what is...

Thanks for the answers. I did finally figure out how I could test is to its confirmed. Also the pierce and punch effects while working only on the entity they are on also only use the mass of the entity there on for the effectiveness.
Does pierce and/or punch effect defensively also help docked entities if the defence is on the main ship?
Like help the ships turrets while the effect is located on the main body.

If you need to restart the clock each time I would suggest resaving the blueprint. Maybe it's just saved the blueprint saved at the wrong moment in time with the logic.
Are you using the NOT-Delay clocks or the full Act>Or>Not>Delay clock?
I'm not completely sure but I haven't had any problems using a Act>Or>Not>Delay>back to Or clock. I think if the timing is wrong the Not>Delay clocks fail sometimes on spawn in.
My understanding of it was the asteroids if set to respawn would do so as well so the NPCs would also have belts that respawn if the server was setup this way.
