I'd say right now the only limiting factor is resources. That's the main issue people have and the reason people try to build their game ending ships over fleets of smaller ships. People are too afraid of losing crap they avoid fighting at all costs so if we had a way of sending the AI out...
Hint if someone is blocking entry into my own territory with a Sector based Jump Inhibitor and they aren't an ally I'm going to blow the thing sky high with my AI fleet and move on. :)
I find it strange because some patches I'll have the fleet mining issue and some I won't. I've got a fleet miner with 60 drones on it and they worked perfectly in older patches but now I'm lucky to get it to work at all. O_o
Keep in mind block based control will be more preferred option when setting up AI factions since the AI won't know how to use said interface since it doesn't have it. We're getting control chairs down the road so hopefully this idea will be one of the many things they can do. :)
Could make it work just like rails do but when moving cargo it causes the shields to go down. This would help for trade fleets so they don't have to dock to offload their stuff or pick it up. That said the devs should implement a way to allow the ships to dock to stations if they have to as...
Move this to the NPCs that are coming in later updates and it wouldn't be an issue. Since the buffs could be stopped by simply killing the NPCs providing them. What you are currently asking for is basically a way to get around having to build a better ship, but moving it to things like NPCs...
For the first #2 make sure to turn off pickup points while launching docked things along the same rail used to pick them up or if the pickup path is close enough to the launch path to grab the entity.
You might find them useful when the AI finally learns how to use support weapons and fleets learn how to fly support around nearby allies these will come back from the dead for the most part. Just because they are useless as docked parts of ships now doesn't mean they are going to be dead...
Save those old docked reactors and docked shield generators for when we get the AI able to use support weapons. :) Might need them and be able to use them.
What'd be nice is if laying down auxiliaries like power reactors would make their regen way higher while laying them down like capacitors would make their capacity higher instead. :)
Link them. Would rather know they exist at all as oppose to people saying them exist but don't. Hint they were likely ignored because of either not being the right solution or because people where demanding it and unwilling to compromise.
I'd rather fight a fleet of ships I can kite into the...
Also to those of you complaining how are the devs suppose to make sure docked reactors for power and shields work in unloaded space? Logic doesn't work in unloaded space so those docked reactors of yours would be totally worthless when unloaded combat comes around making your ships lose a ton...
I'm thinking a lead assist in this case should change where you shoot but simply make it easier to hit something. Say you have some better crossheirs for the shooter's end of things and you have a little tracking target with a line going from it to the ship's front bounding box face. The...
Docked Shield Reactors weren't nearly as bad as docked power reactors though mostly because people couldn't figure out how to use them correctly and just ditched them. XD
