Has there been any repairs to the standalone version yet? Or is there something in the steam version that can be walked over to the standalone launcher?
My workaround for that--since they didn't bother to update the NPC factions--was to go into the settings and click on "use old damage system" which allows ships to be destroyed when the cores were hit. This old rule doesn't apply to the new power system, or they work side-by-side, or something...
Forgive me if this has been asked before; I could not find any setting that jumped out at me. While in flight mode, is there a way to shut off the targetter and other HUD components? Or is that set in stone?
I loaded the largest ship I could find on my catalog to test the effect with the just a core and a couple of blocks. It does manifest on my game, but very slightly. It's like a gravity well of sorts forms around the larger ship. I can't recreate the crazy gyrations my son gets but we tested...
This is mostly for my son. I noticed that very small ships will wobble a little when near a very large ship, but for me this is rarely an issue other than to shake my head and frown a little. Oddly, though, my son's small craft wobbled so violently that it began spinning out of control...
1. Yes. Theoretically, at least. Look at it as hedging your bets.
2. Go to the radial menu after you tinker with your turret, select "Structure" then find either Turret Collective or Rail System Collective and click the button that says "Activate All Turrets".
Great minds think alike, apparently. My son and I confer before we put in any changes to the config. One of them was, interestingly enough, a change to stabilization. We decided stabilizers should perform more like cooling jackets or containment and modified things accordingly. I really miss...
Yeah, did that. Discussing how to do it with a newer player, in fact. Some other player came in frothing at the mouth at how I was breaking the weapons update by tampering with missiles. I didn't have the heart to tell him he might as well yell at me for dialing down beams, changing the death...
Ah, yes. Educate myself. Or... perhaps I tried it, didn't like it, and modified it to something I preferred? Not everyone has to like vanilla ice cream. You do you. The OP had questions. I brought answers and ventured my personal opinion. The OP plays on single player, and I play only...
Something I noticed about the beam weapons in the new weapons update: For some reason, the new beams have a 5-second burst and 5-second cooldown, making them essentially continuous fire. The old beams were 1-second burst for 5 hits, then a 5-second cooldown. Perhaps scaling back to the...
Yeah, that's part of the confusion. You have to keep all the nested tags intact. For instance, changing the missile capacity blocks looks something like:
<MissileCapacity>
<BasicValues>
<MissileCapacityCalcStyle>LINEAR</MissileCapacityCalcStyle>...
Use of the "custom"-anything files resulted in my game crashing. So do whichever works best for you. Either way, definitely make sure your work is saved first.
Okay. Home again. Go to blockBehaviorConfig.xml--open it in a text editor like notepad. Find the tag <MissileCapacity> then look for the line starting with <MissileCapacityCalcStyle>. Change the "EXP" into "LINEAR". Then drop down to the line with the tag <MissileCapacityPerBlock> and...
I'm at work at the moment, but I'll crack open the file when I get home. The file is located in Starmade/data/config/blockbehavior.xml, I believe. From there, look for <missilecapacity> tags. I'll look it up when I get home and give you a more definitive answer in a few hours.
A ridiculous number of capacity blocks are needed to increase the missile supply. I changed those values in my config files so 1 block = 1 extra missile. If you're not on a multi-player server, you may wish to do the same. As for effects, they don't do much right now other than extra damage...
AIs were not able to use the "death ray" lasers, so it's entirely possible they don't know how to use the charge-up cannon as well.
EDIT: Missed your second question. Sorry about that! Missile capacity blocks are not linked. Just place them on your ship or station.
