      I saw in the dev Q&A, that several people were able to select an entire block of system, and link it to a computer all at once. How is this done?

      All they have to do is put up a contest for say, "Who can make the best sound effects?" and then take the ones they like, announce the winners, and implement the sounds. The same could work for TP's, and they're already doing this for the official trailer.

      Actually, "turkey" ships, as you call them, are very abnormal, and usually, quite inefficient, and very early builds. Most of the truly big ships I've run into had hallways, engine rooms, crew quarters, docking bays, a bridge, things like that. In addition, a heat system would make the game MUCH...

      The thing about making it a system like the weapons system, is that you could sneak onto an enemy ship, and start an emergency warp, which could potentially destroy it, or at least get it out of the way. You would have time to get out, and it would be helpless while the FTL system charged up, or...

      The devs have specifically mentioned that there are rebalanced in the future to make fighters, etc. more useful/viable. In addition, you can fly anywhere in starmade in 1 hour, even if the speed cap is only 60 m/s. This would remove the point of FTL.

      We're not breaking physics, we're bending space, but not exceeding the speed of light. Look up wormholes and warp drives.

      Well, you could always suggest that to schema, but I'm not sure how that would work, as you'd end up with weird collision, and/or non-block collision, both of which would be bad. (though it <i>would</i> be useful for large ships, so possibly over a certain size, near planets, could do that...

      The problem with planets is not the block count, but the complexity and size of physics cast, but essentially yes.

      De-coring is planned. once that happens, I think it should be more likely. The problem is that every block in the ship is relative to the core. This makes moving the core very difficult code-wise.

      That would work if Starmade's collision engine worked like Minecraft's. but, because the ships don't align to a grid, heightmaps won't work. The floor is already optimized, which is why one lags far less flying on the bottom of a planet than the top. Starmade can't use the GPU for these...

      Rotating the Cockpit's view [Dead Thread]

      What I'm saying is that if I put multiple cockpits on a ship, I'd like to me able to make them face different directions, so when I switch my view there, I can see off to the side of, or out the back of my ship. I didn't know that it even let you change how the view rotates. >.>
