I've had this issue off and on since I joined the game. It's an issue with moving ships from old versions to newer ones. I just salvaged some ships from ~2 years ago, and ran into this same problem.
I suggest the following:
0) BACK UP YOUR FILE. I'M NOT JOKING. DO IT.
1) Find out the last...
I think Beacons are the way to go, because the CPU cost of large gates could easily kill a server, seeing as you would have to compute not only normal collision, but also what part to break off, and strip off potentially millions of blocks as the ship exits the portal. you also have to calculate...
I don't actually know how powerdrain beams work, I just figured they stole power from the target.
I think that would be an interesting mechanic (largers systems draw more power, speed things up)
Yeah, you could also break it by shooing things :)
Surprises?
I designed it to be easier to get...
Well, for jammers... You can "jam" a station by using a powerdrain beam to drain it of it's power, which it needs to make jumps, and if you attempt to jump to a destroyed station using a safe warp, things do get "interesting", though I think the idea of a weapon specifically designed to screw...
Well, I did express the idea of needing to bookmark a node with a block, then being able to warp there at any time, if you could charge up that much energy before you got board.
To make Sub-light still mean something. Otherwise it's never efficient to fly analogue, and everything would become...
Vyor
I don't see why that couldn't be done (making an emergency jump less "stable" the more dmg you had). And I can see the appeal. I'd probably vote for making it a config option.
... Just don't shoot at it.
Also, as I said, there would be a limited number per ship. You can't strap a nuclear generator onto a fighter...
(I should have mentioned that I meant it was limited based on ship size)
Thanks, Arkudo for rescuing the thread :)
The energy requirements could be changed at a moment's notice, because, the way starmade is going, everything's in the config. The ones I have were just the ones I came up with to see how exactly things would work, and if the calculation methods would...
Re-post, because I changed some things, and cleared some stuff up.
====================================================
I believe that FTL should be both ship-based and beacon-based.
In order to use a beacon, a ship would need an on-board system, the size of which would determine the amount of...
In the dev-build update news, on the main page, they said that the sounds will be in the XML file, and, as such, will be easily modable (read: sound packs :D So for now, yes, not doable, but in the next update, very doable.)
That's a good idea, but one of the the stated goals of Starmade is to make the vanilla game so dynamic that you don't need mods.
Also, it's good to just have defaults for everything other then -blank-
That's not the point though. My point is that they can outsource things like that, just by calling it a contest. It saves money, and time, and makes the users happy too :) Winning all around.
