I agree that limiting the resources would help. But maybe, in addition, make some of the decorative blocks functional? Like the medical blocks? Or the computer, it could be used to edit the systems of your ship instead? Make it more interactive. Maybe make space unbreathable, so you need a ship...

I am having the same problem. Being able to read about the update as soon as it starts to download makes it so i can watch the download finish so i can play the game more! :p
