Version 1.7 is now here. Thanks to @WiseMack (also to him: welcome to the community! :D) for testing this version. This version can now detect Java 8, and Intel chipset detection has been fixed/tweaked for the thousandth time.

Yea, the current released version of SMC doesn't detect Java 8. I did already fix this, but needed someone to test it on. I'll PM you the fixed version, if you don't mind testing it :)

The official stance is essentially "expected to be soon, but no promises". Personal speculation: in the next week or so?

You can't upgrade OpenGL in software. It is a set of actions that your graphics card can run. However, I did make a tool for checking if your computer can run Starmade, right over here.

I have thought about doing so. However, it would just stir people up even more. This sort of thing has been a long time coming, anyway. We're leaving it open as long as we can, as long as no one is getting too nasty. I promise we're watching. ;)

I wouldn't say there are dark days ahead. In fact, I'd say things are improving. In fact, the main complain of OP's is that communication between the players and staff (of both SMDock and Schine) is lacking. Which at this point, I have to agree. But, major progress on this is being made, just...
