      That would actually make more sense. I mean, that's what shields are for after all. Unshielded ships should take slight damage though, this applies to ships with no shield blocks and ships that are out of a shield charge from being attacked.

      Either the station authors put them in just because stations can utilize them, pirate or not. Or maybe we'll be able to align ourselves with the pirates in some fashion later and trade with them instead of the trade guild.       Don't you mean rotors? If rails can be curved, then maybe to a degree, but a rotor would accomplish that task in a smaller area and look more like the desired movement. Either way I can't wait.
