Just a word of advice to people who want to introduce new mechanics into the game. If your idea can't be explained in simple terms it may not be a viable idea. The fact that you need a wall of text to cover all the contingencies is a clue that your idea is overblown or unworkable. If people...
Good to know. I have never tried a track-ball but I am ready to try anything to reduce the repetitive strain. I did use a microsoft ergonomic 'wave' keyboard that seemed to help. Problem is it is too big for my current table setup.
Who is hatin'? I do that all time. It is a reliable way to grind pirates and test small fighters. I perfected the killing-zone playing Star-craft where the AI will happily march into your trap over and over again. :D
Oh yeah...classic. Bait the local pirates into your Turret Gauntlet-O-Death attached to your invulnerable Home-base.
Another good early-game tactic is to go tomb-raiding on green & Yellow planets. Look for loot in storage blocks in the city & pyramid ruins.
I'm surprised no one mentioned one of the simplest hints. Proximity. The materials they give you at the beginning are enough to make a perma-cloaking scout ship. (Get one from the Dock or learn to design one) Don't faction a base that is near pirate stations. Find a nice juicy asteroid field...
Not asking for more than a few sentences. If the effort results in improved builds then it may be worth it. This could be done with a form-template as the fleets are being reviewed (for next contest). Then when the decision is made the judges just need to send a copy of the results to the...
I have been researching PvP Vs Griefing on Google. This is a hot topic for all games and even more so for games that focus on building.
Blizzard reports that 25% of their customer service calls for WoW are for in-game griefing. Games with official Massive multiplayer servers may choose to run...
Congrats to those builders who were accepted. Thanks to all the builders who entered. I found myself inspired by some of the amazing designs that the contest produced.
A number of Fleets that I liked did not get chosen so I would ask that the judges provide a brief review of the Also-rans...
While doing research on Griefing Vs PvP I came up with a sobering statistic. Blizzard reports that 25% of all customer service complaints for WoW were regarding griefing in game. Now imagine yourself responsible for the adjudication of that nightmare. Anyone want to volunteer to get embroiled in...
Yo Hartoponsleeve ...I notice you have nothing to say on this subject. Care to chime in on alternative PvP concepts or do you prefer to simply repeat your grief-denial as if it was helping to further the discussion? That is what the OP is trying to accomplish; an exchange of ideas, not...
So...I guess we also need to discuss the definitions of PvP.
If PvP implies 'no holds barred' then anything goes. Do we all lack the imagination to find ways to grief on a PvP server? I'm pretty sure I could find ways to make my self unwelcome in any environment without rules.
What then is the...
Like many suggestions this is a thing that I would love to have for myself but I would never want to see allowed in the game. This describes most things that are Over Powered. I can't get behind this because I don't think it's possible to prevent abuse regardless of the nerfs you try to work...
Had Carpal release surgery on my right wrist. Suffering symptoms in my left wrist (numbness, tingling, pain, weakness). Recovering from trigger-finger repetitive use injury. I use tools doing my day-job but my injuries are from all sources of repetitive-strain including playing games.
I'm sure I have seen a thread with 'Personal' logic remote-control.
Within a limited range you may be able to use your personal activation beam to trigger a logic cct.
I would like the SOS beacon to turn on automatically when the ship gets overheated and I die. The personal setting should provide a Nav-beacon to help me to re-spawn and travel back to attempt salvage operations. Obviously a red & white pulsing beacon-light would help too.
(Yes to the allied...
Interesting ideas...sparked some brainstorming.
Couldn't logic be made to function across entities? Face on face contact between the logic blocks of separate entities could allow for significant integration without resorting to wireless links. Couple this with improved logic integration for...
