My Thoughts on the New SM

I do not mean to be disrespectful if that is your actual approach, but was that a joke?

      What is Wrong with Starmade

I think your mouse slipped when you voted... Especially agree with the power capacitors and thrust. Alpha has intrinsic advantages over DPS in its very nature of being able to front-load damage, capacitors where a natural balance to that. The OP nature of DPS weapons in certain situations...

My Thoughts on the New SM

You kind of make his point. New reactors should have never been released ahead of new weapons, because one can not be designed without the other. At this point there's nothing really useful to do other than refitting civilian ships and bases (which only took a few days).

Returning player feedback on power 2.0

I think Non's point here is that there was a huge and healthy PvP community before power 2.0 was announced. It was common on servers like LvD to have 10-15 PvP players online at a time. There were full scale wars, politics, tournaments, random skirmishes, etc. It shrank by about 20-40% after...

Returning player feedback on power 2.0

He released those details because it no longer a benefit. If he said how he did it, it would be easy to make ships balanced to kill him. Many high end pvp ships actually look better than that and use at least as much complexity in their designs. A lot of what PvPers do is not exploits, but...

Incentivizing broad ships by beta stabilizers

A few notes: Until turn rate under lag is fixed, pencil ships are not at a disadvantage for turning while in combat. Right now all ships can turn on a dime once the game starts to lag even a little bit. Many veteran players have solutions for creating enough lag to turn quickly even outside...

      Modular Shipbuilding

1.0 actually addressed docked power in a very ballened way, where docking it was more regen efficient, but limited as to how you could use it. If you centralized your power you got less total regen, but a much more efficient capacitor, such that a well designed ship could re-allocate power to...

How to fix Integrity - Yeay Math Again!

Yes/maybe. At these suggested defaults, there would be enough room for some basic design liberties like that; however, a reactor that is made up of 20 balls around your entire ship connected by single block wide strings would be very unstable, and result in distributed weak points instead of...

      Build Drones?

This is more an issue of player laziness. Some factions have constructed some pretty nice looking shipyards, and I suspect the number of nice ones will go up once the devs can figure out how to get them stable enough for more ppl to care. Sol-series Shipyard

Protip: To prevent accidentally removing logic or used rails place a filled chest nearby

Simple, use one alert for all warnings. "Warning, you are about to remove a Faction Block, an In-use docker, connected logic, and an in use storage." If I had to confirm this every time I mean to remove these things, I'd still save more time than what I've lost on a single such mistake.

      Build Drones?

I think this is a good idea for when BPs get removed as Red said, but frankly, this should be one of the last features the game sees before going into beta since things like this and shipyards really need core mechanics to be unbroken first before they can be effectively implemented.

How to fix Integrity - Yeay Math Again!

Okay, so here is an idea to try to keep integrity working in spirit how it works now, but without all the major problems. I suggested something similar to this before, but this is about system specific integrity. I will begin by outlining the major issues with current integrity: It enforces a...

My Thoughts on the New SM

Performance was a stated goal of power 2.0, but integrity is very performance heavy. Destroying a 30k ship now causes at least as much lag as a comparable 500k ship with docked armor did in power 1.0. It drops damage. So if you hit something with too many weapons at once, some of them will...

My Thoughts on the New SM

One other issue with chain reactions it that it takes a VERY long time for 5x5 block explosions to destroy a spaghetti ship. Even if you could get the performance issues handled and the exploits removed, spaghetti ships would still make very viable doomsday ships. A 30k Speg similar to the...

      Modular Shipbuilding

Commander's chair as a block on the master entity is different. I'm talking about things like rapid displacement rail systems, scan & targeting exploits, etc. There are also a TON of easy things to mess up in a system like that like making sure a person can't take control of your ship from a...

      Modular Shipbuilding

My point is that a lot of development time and removal of useful things would have to happen to make that doable for a feature that is not really useful for anything other than exploiting. If you want to dock a core to a ship and use it as an access point to command a ship, you can already do...

      Prerelease v0.200.250

A lot of players went on hiatus months ago waiting for power 2.0 to be released, so the dock is what they were using to keep an eye on things to know when they should come back

      Modular Shipbuilding

Command nodes as described are super exploitable... I have come up with no less than 10 exploit ideas over the past few years that I had to trash because they were not viable without such a feature. That said, a bridge design can be copy-pasted as is. If they just added command consoles that...

Go Back to Ratings instead of Likes

Using funny instead of disagree is the only abuse I can actually think of, how would you feel if the system were reduced to Agree/Disagree, or perhaps Like/Agree/Disagree since somethings fall out of that scope.
