      I'm not sure an overlay would take up another ID. It could be treated like a ship specific meta-item. Besides, Schema said IDs aren't that important any more. (not that we want to go wild, but the restriction isn't as severe)

      Actually, that 'highlight edges' seems like a much better solution then the flashlight. It could simply be an overly texture on the blocks that inverts the color on the edges. I think that would be simpler to implement instead of messing with the lighting engine.

      Known issue - T820 In fact, Scheme has marked this as resolved as of 1/15/16. In other words, it should be fixed in the next update. After updating, most likely this weekend, test it out and report back if you continue to have issues.
