      That's actually a good point- And I do think that super high damage beams should last a bit longer. But having at least some beams just sort of be instant would still be really nice in my opinion. Something a bit like pulsar gunships from homeworld 2.

      This is either A: a troll post or B: a post by someone that really needs to spend more time learning about shipbuilding. There is a lot of strategy that goes into shipbuilding, probably more than in space engineers, in which using heavy armor means it takes 20 years to actually damage your ship.

      This is, of course, purely a matter of personal taste, but I think that beams would look better if they had a shorter duration- more of a brief pulse than staying on a target for a moment. Anyone else?

      But missiles spread their damage out over an area, meaning they still can't pierce armor as effectively. And besides that, have you ever seen a single effective craft that uses dumb fire missiles as a primary? Cannon/cannon is just better.
