This is the 4th time that the crafting system has been overhauled since I've started playing
I just don't care anymore (as long as it doesn't require hours of salvaging to get a handful of hull)
Things you can do to fight big ships:
-build a big ship as well
-build a slightly smaller but better optimized ship to fight them
-put turrets on your homebase
-go out in the middle of nowhere where nobody will find you (really easy with jump drive nowadays)
-don't pick fights with...
"Baww why can't my tiny fighter that I spent 20 minutes on take out someone's cruiser that they spent a month on ;_;" - every "big ship critic" ever
If you don't like big ships, don't use them. It's really that simple.
There are plenty of servers that have a max size limit if that's your thing
There is already a mechanic working against larger ships. The more massive your ship is, then the more thrusters it needs and the more power it needs (due to more thrusters).
Can you please explain why you think an exponential increase in power requirements will somehow "balance" the game...
Ships already need to be 1/5 - 1/4 thruster blocks in order to reach a reasonable speed (with less, they can't even hit top speed)
Unless thrusters are given a 400%-600% thrust boost per block, this will kill every ship design out there
You CANNOT have a system like this where inertial damping...
So if I'm understanding this correctly, we will need 6 TIMES the number of thrusters just to maintain our ships' performance?
This is a terrible idea IMO
*Edit*
I've also never seen "capital ships flying backwards and blasting their pursuers" (which isn't a problem anyways because weapon...
First off I'll say that I love the new ftl system, and this is my only qualm with it
Make the warp module blocks orientable, so that the nice animation they have can actually be used properly
That is all.
...but turning rate IRL is determined by a ship's moment of inertia, so the current system is more accurate
and borg cubes aren't used because they turn faster, they're just easier/quicker to build for griefers
Just my 2 cents:
The missile interdiction weapon should be antimatter cannons, because the laser beams for all intents and purposes don't miss (they travel instantaneously). If cannons are used instead, missiles will stand a small chance at least.
@aceface
Yeah having 1:1 planets simply isn't compatible with this game's structure (you could have the entire Starmade community on a single planet and nobody would be able to find each other)
I still think the current planets are too small, though. Even the "400-500r" ones are at most small...
I sort of agree, and at the same time not entirely
The current galaxies have approximately 64 star systems, which is more star systems than I have ever seen occupied on a single server.
The current galaxies are actually quite large
Open this picture in MS paint or a similar program then turn on...
