I'm not very good at it personally, but when I find a boring section of a ship I think needs to be spiced up, I search up Spaceship Concepts on google and take certain specifics and replicate them on my ship. Not the best way, but it can be good.

The one thing to keep in mind when adding a holster is that the pistol will just sit over the top of it, so it'll only look good if it's an empty one when the pistol is drawn. Perhaps a simple leather cap? I know it's not really viable for working in a vacuum, but if it was in a enclosed...

I usually play singleplayer, as my location is conveniently very far away from all the large servers. However, I did have a dogfight over LAN with a friend of mine using identical fighters . . . It was incredibly fun, although I absoluteley mauled the other ship without even losing the shields...
