      It could be simplified by adding them up and only returning true if the result equaled 1. "His limited definition" is the correct definition of XOR. To change the definition of it wouldn't make sense.

      Display blocks could simply be made something that had an activation state, and then in the text you would simply check the activation state of the display block itself. That wouldn't allow for a single display block looking at multiple logic blocks though, but it is simpler.

      Star Systems already exist, as well as "Void Systems" for areas outside a star system. I think they are 16x16x16 sectors in size, not sure on that one though.

      I like the retrofitting idea, I had that idea and figured I should see if it's already been suggested! I would say for a simpler coding design though, it should be limited to removing unneeded blocks and adding new ones. Trying to move existing blocks around could get really complicated really...

      Space friction, yes, it doesn't make sense. I would prefer a braking system that stopped the ship when players exited the core or (hopefully) upcoming cockpit chairs.       If you don't store the HP in the actual block, how do you know when a block's HP is gone and the block is destroyed? What do you mean, byte waste #1 is having 8 different block IDs in a 22x2 area? Is that with your "sub-block" idea?

      If 5 bits were used for HP per "2x2x2 sub-blocks", you would have 32 possible values for HP. You could not store a 0-200 value for a HH using only 5 bits, unless you changed the HP resolution to 7, which is similar to what OP is proposing.
