Once again, you are balancing around an incomplete system. This will come back to haunt you.
1. First; That's a cop out. Second, you're basically admitting that you are in fact, balancing around an incomplete system. Keep doing this and you may end up reinventing the wheel again when the...
A few weeks? Seems I missed an update while I was out of town. I'll give it a try. Is there anything that can be done about the joystick/gamepad issue or is that a Schine issue?
Only Schine can be the judge of that. QF does not have the ability to properly address exploits on an...
At the QF level, no, it doesn't need to be complex. Your team is not developing the game so no matter what you do, exploits will exist until those who are developing the game address them. Crew might help with the space vs spam governance issue but I really think you guys should have a more...
You guys are really pushing my Typing skills to the limit. Though I appreciate the return to constructive discussion. I hope you also see this as constructive and not an attack on your efforts.
Regarding 20-30% more resources: At my example scale, more systems is the more effective way...
That's not what I observe. Adv. armor has low hitpoints per block. Just as you can wear away a single block with a CC over time, if you use a powerful enough beam weapon, you can overcome the armor's damage resistance to eliminate the first block's hitpoints. The first block layer breaks...
Regarding beams: Are you sure it's a bug?
The reason I ask is because all my tests with beams produce consistent results so I was under the impression that they are working as intended. If I had to make a guess as to why they are so effective vs armor, I'd say it likely happens when the...
When you say: "stabilizers that must be placed close don't seem to have any point to their existence", then offer an alternative to the original idea, What exactly is there to take out of context?
Regardless of what you say here, you saw and pointed out a legitimate problem with that idea...
Actually, you're the one missing the point.
When I say "independent, undocumented tests", I'm referring to tests done independently of Schine's and QF's work and not part of their official records or config notes. As such, it is arrogant and closed-minded to assume that anything that is not...
Pointless? That's a rather closed minded response. ...Especially since the team seemed unsure of how to handle thrust and were largely oblivious to the fact that their config at the time made smaller ships handle like a drunken brick.
It's rather arrogant and presumptuous to think that...
Like it or not, there is quite a bit of truth in these statements.
Example; on Discord, when I offered constructive feedback AND my own observations for thrust configs, the majority of the initial responses I got were pretty damn ignorant; including some kid talking shit and bragging about why...
Regarding "strictly a survival concern"; Not really. These NPC uints do nothing but clutter up the system; both gameplay-wise and RAM/HDD-wise. My experience has been that they serve no purpose with regard to balance testing except to disrupt it. ...both in single player and...
While I do agree that there are too many "knobs and buttons" on some features, I must admit that your response suggests that you are only looking at this situation from a competititve/PVP point of view.
Regardless of anyone's preferred playstyle, the fact remains that the "rebalancing" process...
Here's wishing you a hearty welcome back and congratulations on a new chapter of your career.
I hope your family is staying strong in these rough times.
Are you saying you don't want actual game content?
You know; something else to do besides...
- Mine (with broken mining bonuses)
- Build (with quickfire's broken blockspam system)
- Spawn a blueprint (in the middle of nowhere, with no nearby base or shipyard)
- PVP (with broken weapons)
-...
Severely needed.
Tax rates are a much easier way to pull this off. Higher rates will give you more credits but make your population less happy. Lower rates grant less credits but keep them happy. There should also be a wider use for credits in general; as right now, only NPC shops have a...
Ahh, the good old days; when the world was flat and Starm-Ade was a lot simpler.
A few thoughts...
1) That ship looks to be pre-rails. There is a good chance that most of its blocks are considered legacy and thus, unusable. Major refits abound.
2) Provided the ship takes a while to...
No. Vanilla penalizes you for having stabilizers too close. I have several builds where I have 2-3x more stabilizers than power blocks, just to maintain 100% stability. QF eliminates stability restrictions altogether. Now one can fill their ship completely with 50% reactors and 50%...
Given the current config, I can agree with this somewhat.
Reason: The QF speed and rotation curve has made large craft less able to avoid bombs, draw a bead on agile opponents and intercept distant enemies. Strategy and AI fleets will no doubt, be used to counter (and exploit) this weakness...
