      If we make Stars physical, that could have a host of opportunities. Star Mining, anyone? There could be a regenerative layer at the surface of each star, and although it would never deplete you could effect the orbit and climate of planets. If you got a huge ship, mined the star, for example...

      ...not at all. Ship and station modules and whatnot are already controlled by logic, and auto turrets are controlled by Bobby AI modules.

      There is a problem with faction points - they just don't make any sense. They're an artificial currency designed to upkeep a flawed system. I think this should be more economic based. Just make resource imbalances (Some systems spawn with more ores than others) and the auto mining system...

      Maybe, but the trade off would be less firepower. Maybe then you couldn't break the planet's shields.

      Better anti missile defense systems, I suppose. Can't nuke them from orbit if all of your missiles are being shot of the sky. On the flip side, that makes it so the invading team would need to take out the point defense sites if they want to bombard a planet.

      It could be instanced, like minecraft terrian. It just saves how something looks like from a distance, and only loads it when you get near. The part you are standing on would be flat, but as you get farther into orbit it only appears round.
