      They don't work. I tried using them on a small shuttle of mine - the whole entity shares the same amount of power, so the mothership ends up using it's power to supply the same beams that are giving it power. It's a cycle. I'm going to try to use pull beams to latch stuff onto my ship, though...

      Astronaut suits should not have a high thrust-mast ratio, so astronauts couldn't escape from planets. Cores are going the way of the dinosaur soon, so hopefully they shouldn't even be an issue.
