      Engine Porn

Can I make a recommendation? These would look a lot nicer with some sort of ice + crystal combo over top of them, with the necessary gap left so they still glow of course.

Yeah, that's nice and all, but astronaut exploration should be rewarding to more than just those who don't know how to build their own vessels. What rewards should experienced players be able to get besides a design to plug into a shipyard that is worse than everything in their current fleet...

Why would I want some crappy performing ship taken from Community Content? I know for a fact I can build something that performs better than 99.9% of the ships on there already, and they'll already look how I want them to look.

      Better Asteroid-Resource Matches

What the hell are you talking about? Turn your custom texture packs off dude. All ores give capsules of the same color, and there aren't even any pink ores. Wrong. Plenty of players who have just started and only have the spawn gear need to cherry-pick ores from the surface of asteroids before...

Renewable Resources from Planets: Core Drilling and Plant Farming

Because planets being mined to nothing is ugly, and this would encourage that, except now there's a bunch of floating magic ores that you can mine a billion times before they vanish. That's stupid. The mantle extractors allow you to mine from a planet indefinitely as a renewable source of income...

Uh, no, that sounds exactly like what we want. That is the best way to encourage trading. Now, resources shouldn't be non-existent out of the systems heavy in them, but they should be uncommon enough to make trading with others or going to war over those areas desirable.

Basic things like build blocks, cores, thrusters, power, basic armor, salvagers, all only take generic mesh/composite already. It's only higher level things (SDD/ADV Armor, Effects, Weapons, Shields) that need specific materials. The only thing that really needs changed is a white light that...

Astrotech Beams - Repairing the Entire Ship

Logi-spam is the absolute most annoying thing in games. EVE, Dreadnought, Fractured Space, etc, it's all cancerous. It's a terrible idea to make it possible for ships to make a circle jerk of infinite healing. I never want logi-spam in this game. As for stations, I would prefer if spawning a...

Can you elaborate on this? I just want to know if the recipe revisions will make the unequal resource distribution matter, and why changing the recipes is even necessary.

Astrotech Beams - Repairing the Entire Ship

Repairing SHP without actually replacing the blocks sounds like a confusing mechanic. No thanks. And I don't think Astrotech should replace blocks- that should be a shipyard function only. I like the idea of astrotech repairing AHP though.

StarMade Release Cycle & News Posts

Do you think you could make a post indicating what changes you've made to the OP when you make them?

      Starmade just got 0wned...

It would take Schema literally 5 minutes to make the planet core entities spawn in the same location as stars and give stars a model. There's no reason to because if you're close enough to see that stars aren't actually models in the current game you would already be dead.

Experiences from Starsector (Solution to gigantism and binary fights)

Ok, but where is the problem in this, assuming it's even true? If given a Fleet A where all the ships cost twice as much as the ships in Fleet B resulted in a victory for Fleet A where they only have 40% of theoretical HP remaining, why would anyone ever fly Fleet A? They just spent more than...

Experiences from Starsector (Solution to gigantism and binary fights)

-Thruster effectiveness losses -Shield capacitor effectiveness losses -Increasing cost for thicker armor -Reduced turning speed -Increased target profile size -Weapon damage scaling is not actually linear for block damage Any more I'm missing? God knows that's not all of them. Congratulations...

Experiences from Starsector (Solution to gigantism and binary fights)

Wrong. Big ships are extremely inefficient. Fleets are more bang for your buck. Drone fleets are the most bang for your buck. Wrong. Not only can you win with a fleet half the strength of an enemy, even if you lose you can still do plenty of damage to them.

My suggestion for a fuel mechanic

The problem I see is that this is too high of a power cap. Drones are already effective, so with fuel, why wouldn't everyone just make power cap drones and ignore the need for it ever?

      A Potential Minimal-Grind Fuel Mechanic.

Perhaps a possibility would be to increase base core power generation, enough so that a fighter-sized ship (~500-1k mass) can support movement on its own, but it's not enough to fight with. This prevents small ships from getting stranded (my main complaint with any system where fuel is required...

      A Potential Minimal-Grind Fuel Mechanic.

If you just want the game to be nothing but non-stop fighting, have you considered just setting up a battlemode server?

      Weapon Signatures

You guys are very unimaginative. You really can't think of a use for finding out what attacked a structure? Maybe you want to know who's been mining in your system and scan a half eaten planet, or see who blew up this pirate isanth, or perhaps you want to know which of your enemies is...

Punish power failure with a debuff!

EMP is already extremely effective. I've built vessels that use it extremely well. Whenever someone complains about EMP being underpowered, I can immediately tell they've either never even tried it or are wholly incompetent systems designers. Also, accidentally draining your power to zero...
