      Kill Docked Power Entirely

I know this pain friend :( As would everyone if they had any idea what it meant! Anyone who has played X3 will know how little interest you end up taking with your ships, because they're burried in menus and so far away from you, there's no real interaction with them. That's fine for X3, but...

      Kill Docked Power Entirely

I don't remember the source but i think that's how it's supposed to go. Everything else i agree with you 100%. :(

      Is armor too weak?

Armor's biggest handicap is in weaponscaling; Because you can pile as much damage from weapons into a single point you can go through armor and knock out critical systems like computers logic and rail blocks, that severely cripple your ship, regardless of how thick your armor is. If armor had...

      Kill Docked Power Entirely

I refer you two to THIS FUCKING THREAD. READ IT. Do you complain about people kicking footballs to hard, or when people use fire magic against ice monsters? People follow what works, and no, people aren't going to make "complex wonders" if there's no fucking point to them. You're basically...

New Damage Mechanics: 'Disabled' and 'Destroyed' Blocks, and AstroTech tweaks

I don't see how this would work. The way weapons go through blocks, what's the difference between 0 HP and -100hp being the lower limit? Unless weapons ignore blocks at 0 and continue penetrating through to the next one, there's simply no difference as far as i can tell. Also keep in mind that...

How much damage do your turrets do?

Got a few red flags from your description, and would like to make sure you aren't running into any big errors, so please give more information about your turret: If it's really just 2 bullets @184k damage that's a really bad setup for two reasons: Your punchthrough effect is basically worse...

      (A) simple solution to the "problem" of docked hull...

That damage just goes in the shields, it's not "gone". Want to second this with a bit of an example: RAI Arbalest This ship uses a logic gun that shoots a screen of weaker punch-through projectiles in front of a much stronger ion projectile in order to knock-out the shield regen on a docked...

      (A) simple solution to the "problem" of docked hull...

No, no they wouldn't. Why would you put shielding on the turret when it's covered by the shield entity's shield? You're just splitting your defense up for no reason. I still completely fail to see why turrets should not be protected by shields the way the ship is. What's the point?

Pretty but effective turrets. Discussion of a solution.

If i'm reading this right, you want more tactical combat instead of the current strafe and shoot a lot? Yes, that would be wonderful, but what you're sugesting doesn't DO that, because the softcaps, like all the other caps, are easy to circumvent. If there's a softcap, just split the same damage...

      (A) simple solution to the "problem" of docked hull...

I'd still use it just for better mass efficiency, but i guess that DOES remove the shield benefit. How is this different from just setting the shield coverage to 100% though? Seems like it would do the same.

Pretty but effective turrets. Discussion of a solution.

FIGHT ME YOU BASTARD!!! There are already softcaps in place, that's what the hull and armor damage systems are and it fucking sucks. It's also easily circumvented by splitting into more ships or more turrets, because what we really need in the game is more projectile spam. What the fuck does...

      (A) simple solution to the "problem" of docked hull...

Then why would you split the shields in the first place? One entity with all shield + regen would be the better option.

Appeal to the Council: A Noisy Niche

And yet minecraft doesn't have any of these. I think a much bigger part of what makes minecraft so addictive is all the mechanical mods added like buildcraft, tinkerdinker, TEKKIT and whateverthefuck else, at least that's what my friends that are into minecraft always do. Not that questing and...

      General weapon balance suggestion

Yes, for a can/can turret. This is the size of a can/pul able to do the same: Point is this is the size of an ACTUAL small turret, designed with starmade's mechanics in mind, hardly gargantuan nonsense in need of fixing... Here's the penetration per shot: Although that's just standard...

      General weapon balance suggestion

Looks like a can/can turret... The reason a lot of small turrets are so useless is because people insist on fitting every single one of them with can/can, which are only functional with thousands of blocks. Can/pul, beam/pul, can/beam and beam/beam turrets work much better as small setups, but...

      (A) simple solution to the "problem" of docked hull...

Problem is turrets, regardless of size, can be very effectively disabled without shield protection. This kind of ties into armor being trash and how easily a turret joint can be destroyed. All it takes is one lucky shot and the turret is no longer able to function. Regardless of what people...

I understand this too, but i wish people would let starmade be starmade and not just a replica gallery for their favorite sci-fi drug :(
