StarMade v0.199.214 Auxiliary Power, Better Graphics, Better Textures, and Bugfixes

[Edit: damn shortcurts, posted that before I finished writing it, hang on a minute] [Edit: ok, that should be fine now, took a bit more than a minute though :p] Agreed, this was just a counter-example because I disagreed with your argumentation, but it isn't really balanced. Well, 10 x 10 x 10...

StarMade v0.199.214 Auxiliary Power, Better Graphics, Better Textures, and Bugfixes

short version/Tl;dr: Compared to docked reactors, this new block is indeed lag-free (or nearly free, I mean, it's Starmade! :D), still I can't help but feel disappointed since instead of a power mechanics overhaul or a super-quick-and-dirty fix, we get a new block which you obviously spend some...

      The Vaygr Empire [RECRUITMENT OPEN]

The total mass difference I guess? I don't know how many drones FCM used but without them, there's a 241k mass difference. Depending on the number of drones, there can be a disadvantage or an advantage. Also whether both the FCM and Vaygr ships were damaged before they jumped out (although, yup...

      Shields' deep mathematics

This is true. If your alpha strike doesn't deplete the shields completely, they'll be low and hence have a greater regeneration, whereas rapid fire have a more progressive damage and are able to keep the recharge rate lower than alpha strike weapons. However, I don't think the averaged shield...

Would you call cannon-cannon-effect weapons "tier 3"?

NeonSturm You're missing the point. Tier is a term used to reference different hierarchised groups of [things] (weapon/armour/whatever...) usually classified by their "estimated power". Tier N [thing] will either always be strictly inferior to its tier N+1 counterpart, or at least there'll be...

Cannon+pulse+explosive has a new graphical effect?

I read that as "gift please" what would you like? Anyway, that's all I could see: that isn't super visible so I'm not sure he's talking about that (tbh I'm not even sure that effect wasn't already there)

The Wild's Triplet Federation? aka WTF (the wild's triplet is a group of three galaxies located in the constellation Virgo... tbh I was just looking for something whose acronym is WTF)

      Problem

That error makes me think Starmade.jar wasn't updated/downloaded correctly, maybe you can try reinstalling, updating with force download all and overwrite (click on the cog on the right of the build version), or find another way to replace Starmade.jar by a "valid one"?

      Read by Council Rotational Inertia

Anyway, that's not really relevant and I agree with the rest of your post. The performance hit would probably be low enough even if each block of an added/destroyed chunk were to be handled separately.

I think those are the parts HolyCookie's disagreeing with: And I think the problem he raises is the following (In the following I assume the mass of each block is concentrated in its center, I guess this would also work if we assumed the mass to be distributed evenly in the block) Suppose you...

      Quadruple armor without cheating

Oops, sorry, lapsus, I meant that: (assuming both cost the same price) Actually, I don't want to say anything about which of shield or armor is better (although adv. armor was is indeed less expensive than I thought compared to other systems). In fact I think both are useful and often tend to...

      Quadruple armor without cheating

Well, sure, if you're replacing my example by another one, you can say yours is balanced indeed. But ok, I admit that you can't just swap armor types, keep the same systems and call it a day, that wasn't a very realistic example. I didn't mention shields. I could make a long-range ship with no...

      (Yet another?) weapon spreadsheet

Drumboy168 what I'm saying is that piercing got nerfed because one of its effect was disabled, and now, it's strictly worse than punch-through so you might as well use it instead (it used to deal slightly more than twice as much damage against armored blocks than punch-through, but not anymore)
    15. Olxinos

      (Yet another?) weapon spreadsheet

Well, 100% pierce (on cannons) will now: - increase block damage by 25% - increase AHP damage by 50% (i.e. by 87.5% since it's also based on block damage) - decrease shield damage by 100% (i.e. no shield damage anymore) while 100% punch-through: - increases block damage by 50% - increases AHP...

As Jaaskinal said earlier, it's here (in local play) :p Once you have enabled it, it's saved if you "continue last play".

      Quadruple armor without cheating

NeonSturm, I'm a bit confused, I don't know whether your post was also supposed to answer mine (since you rated it funny so I assume you disagreed). If this is the case, I was only asking Lecic why he thinks we should compare ships relatively to their block count (and arguing that I think mass...

      (Yet another?) weapon spreadsheet

Why didn't I get any notification? Do I need to watch my own threads now? :( Master_Artificer On the left, you provide stats and you get the number of blocks; on the right, you provide the number of blocks, and you get the stats. The energy and weapons sheets are completely independant, but...

      Quadruple armor without cheating

Why? Weight might not be an exact measure of how "hard" it is to build that ship, but neither is block count. I mean, if you have two ships with the exact same systems, one covered with hull and the other covered with advanced armor, you do have the same amount of blocks but it isn't really...
