Does people still play this game?

In short, yes, I'm waiting for better gameplay. I am familiar with the pre-0.200 versions. From what I read in the forum, new post-0.200 versions sound unstable and frustrating for small-ship (<300m) builders like me, so it doesn't seem like a good system for me.

      Building tips

I'm currently having a lot of fun creating massive explore-able RP interiors, with system blocks in the walls as decoration. It's gotten so enjoyable, that I'll stop building for a while and just look around in my own ships. Sure, I can make excuses like "I've got to make sure the hull totally...

Does people still play this game?

I'm still playing. Singleplayer, last version before the big 0.200 update. (Still playing 0.199.654)

      Starmade memes

Pardon the intrusion. Yes, it really is a competition. While a player technically can and will play both games, they will favor one over the other, play it more often, show it more often to their friends, make suggestions to play it when someone asks for a good space game, etc. That is new...

      Starmade Systems, but Rational

Making mining more enjoyable? That's where old suggestions about being able to place some sort of mining colonies or planet-core-mining facilities on planets were going to come in. You place one on a planet, and the planet becomes more interesting, more valuable, and less likely to be...

      Starmade Systems, but Rational

For preserving design security and sales profitability, BPs would not just need to be lockable. The BPs would need to be recognized as up to 98% equivalency, to avoid someone placing a potted plant in an open spot, and then blueprinting a 99.999% replica. Or placing a 10^3 cube of potted plants...

A Radicaly New Approach for Viable Planets:

For such a tactical map, I envision the map being limited to the local "neighborhood". The range of the map might be based on weapon ranges, but it would be a lot more interesting if the tactical map range was based on a planet-based scanner system. Planetary defense systems would be very hard...

A Radicaly New Approach for Viable Planets:

This change would inevitably introduce a new way to have PTS combat. Specifically, I'm thinking about Star Wars Ep 5 ESB, where "our heroes" (tm) used a command center (command chairs!) to pick-and-choose "nearby" targets in space and shoot at them. Example Starmade mechanic: Whatever weapon...

      Remove Stabilizers

I would disagree with the advanced end-game power, because that would be the new requirement. All other power options would probably be inferior and discarded as suicidal. Multiple equivalent power options would be fun, and could promote different optimum ship layouts.

      Whole buncha rogue planets

I imagine a particle-system planetary ring could work. You'd lose the ability to "burst" through the ring with your ship, creating a hole in the ring, but at least it would look right, because the visual processing would take place on the client's GPU, instead of the server calculating physics...

Have StarMade auto import .sment files on startup.

I would recommend that it be a two-list selection system, where you can select the entire list of available blueprints to be imported, or just select one or just a few to import. Likewise, you should be able to remove the entire list from importing, or just select a few for removal...

      Paint Tools

I agree with the first part: we should be able to repaint blocks in-place. It would be nice if the painting "function", however it is implemented, could select an entire group of same-colored blocks, to repaint entire swaths at a time. It should also do repainting for multiple shapes, so that...

The thoughts of a two hour player

These new-player posts are probably super-valuable for Schine to make the beginning game more accessible. Thank you for posting! When you get a chance, please clarify some of your statements, to help Schine improve. 1. What screen res did you start with (E.g. 800x600) and what GUI element...

      Game play overhaul ideas

I definitely like the idea of having a "muzzle" damage indicator on the hotbar, overlaid on each weapon system. There could be two types: a single-damage gauge and a multiple-projectile gage, where the damage of each projectile is given, with a preceding number and a "x" that indicates the...

Players can sell ships at shops

I think you are greatly underestimating the value of system blocks and the capital ships they make. Back in the credit-based Starmade economy, players regularly hit the credit limit very quickly. Granted, if the original cost of blocks and things were reduced by an order of magnitude, it might...

Players can sell ships at shops

I remember how credits were back when it was still a credits based economy, and you got real blocks from salvaging space stations. And it's worse than you think, because it is a signed int. So you could only hold up to 2.1 B credits. Back then, there were constant suggestions to increase the...
