Computationally this is almost infeasible, although it does sound cool. This is a great write up though, but I would not count on this being a block based thing.
I've got a Note 7, and I've thought about this as well. If unity/android have generic support for it, I would like to attempt this in the future. I think for now I'll be focusing on as many universal options as I can.

There is one massive feature required before this is possible. You need to be able to tie a blueprint to a ship since tracking individual lost blocks is extremely expensive, especially on large ships. With that feature a whole host of things become possible such as handle astrotech, AI repairs...
It might be cool to have jump inhibitors act as a power use multiplier when used around a warp gate as well. Effectively blockading it except for smaller ships..
So number of modules in the system increases jump power cost by some ratio of the modules.

I thought navigation was going to get an overhaul at some point, specifically how warpgates function. Most people hate the line between gates since it draws attention to themselves and everyone can see it. Is that overhaul still planned and where does it fit in, in the overall timeline?
