I personnaly think it would be cool to have a video camera.
    for the simple reasons it has to be in the real world;
the moment when you see something super amazing and you want to make it an everlasting picture.
but also you want to show it to your friends!
    or use it as decoration!

So with this video camera you could make a picture!
your camera has storage for x pictures (changable like with max speed)
the video camera would look like a sphere in your invetory.
when you equip it and right click you go in a special mode which is simular to build mode.
you can float around in a range of 100meters max (also changable like with max speed).
you get a camera layout with in the middle the view. you could zoom in and out with scroll.
as you are in a simular build mode, you can make pictures with yourself.

the second thing i would like to add to this is a frame.
something that makes it possible to put your picture in, so you can show off your adventures and sightseens.
this would be simular to warp gate system, only possible when 2D shape is closed.
to make this flexible, your camera would have 10 opsions:
opsion 1, small picture good for a 1 block big frame.
opsion 2, bit bigger good for a small frame of 2x2
opsion 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 all the same idea
you would have to make the picture in the right format to let it fit in the frame.
if you see something you make a picture in size 2 and 4 and 6 then you know you made the right size :D
it is also nice decoration, for example you made a big sign that you want to change easily everyday in 3 things
hello or welcome or hai there.
you made the designs of them once made a picture and your big sign is made of frames, so now you can easily change it every day

Interesting, but the camera might be a prime candidate for mod territory.

The "frame" concept would run into networking issues (transmitting pictures over the server) so I dont really see it happening in anything besides a possible single player mod.

the part "transmitting pictures over the server" confuses me.
do you mean like from 1 server to a different server?
and yea the frame idea was already a heard thing for me to make up, well the frame idea easy but yea,
size and that stuff was harder for me, even without any programming matters

about the mod territory, are there already mods like you have in minecraft?

what would be awesome, but complicated would be to take 3d pics.
    For example:
there's a battle in a certain sector and it looks awesome, so you take out your camera and forever immortalize that moment in the whole sector, you could put in a station and go inside, much like a build block and navigate the scene....glorious...

Hmmm, now, there's an idea, and one that maybe could be done... it wouldn't be the same as a picture in the game, it would be a fully rendered time-freeze of a sector, allowing the viewpoint to move around within it... No idea what the data on something like that would be, and it would be something you could likely only ever view using the Schine engine (meaning only in Starmade, for now)
But this is certainly enticing enough to mention to Schema, thanks Poofer for the concept!
