So I built a big (~500K block) cylindrical hangar bay for safely building & boarding-disembarking small ships. It's closed on all sides except one, which is sealed with a giant plex door.

There seems to be problem. If I spawn a core inside the bay, then fly it out the open door a ways (yes in flight mode, not build mode - I've tested this several times), stop, and delete the core, I am dumped back inside the hangar where I spawned the core. But if I exit it with 'R' then I'm where I should be, outside the hangar.

Further, I've built 3 prototypes inside the bay and ALL of them have weapons problems. If I fire while still inside the bay, I get the "Can't attack faction home" message even if I can't see my discharge, if I fly the ship out of the bay and fire on my dummy ships or the base nothing happens, no message, no damage, and the weapons seem to be firing backwards (but they are all aligned forwards with single, assigned, unobstructed blocks at the front of their Z plane; I've tried a dozen configurations and I've built dozens of other ships outside the hangar that have no such problem). Though reversing the alignment of the blocks doesn't correct the error. Nothing seems to; no ship built inside the bay fires properly outside of it.

Does anyone have experience with this sort of issue?

The first (location upon destroying the core) is a known bug.
Regarding the weapons issues, weapons fire in the direction the computer is facing. If you want them to fire forward, be sure to avoid rotating the controlling weapon computer. (You can always add more computers for decoration without connecting them to any weapon modules.)

If you do that, I'd recommend pressing C on the core and unlinking the computer, just so it doesn't show up in the weapons tab.
