Of course it doesn´t shoot your missiles because you are probably in the same faction.

You activated the AI? My turrets even shoot my own missiles if not factioned.

It would be pretty bad if PD turrets targeted your own faction's missiles :) Otherwise a ship with point defense could not use any missiles at all.

That must be a problem of the turret or ship itself then. If the AI is 100% positively active (doublecheck that), then all that could possibly be the problem is that the turret doesn't work as a normal turret either when set to "ANY" because of either line-of-sight or distance.

There's a setting in the server config for whether it shoots your own missiles or only enemy ones.

MISSILE_DEFENSE_FRIENDLY_FIRE = true //can shoot down own or missiles from own faction

Have you set the type of the turret to "Missile" instead of "Any / Selected Target " ?

The thing where it separates friendly and enemy missiles might not have been added yet.

Seems silly to have hitbox'd missiles and no ability to make point defence...would be pretty funny for your enemy to launch a barrage of missiles like one of those Russian MLRS trucks and their OWN SHIP slowly...picks off each one...then accidentally shoots through the ship. (Does that bug still exist?)

The settings for friendly-fire Point-defense shooting (Yes/No) exists, you could ask the admin of the server you play how is this configuration set.

Check your turret and make sure you cannon computer is pointing forward. I had a cannon computer in backward and I wondered why my cannon wouldn't shoot.

I have used cannons and beams for anti missile turrets and they both work but I like the cannon/cannon (rapid fire) combo best. It can be as wimpy as you like because missiles will blow up with any hit.

And yes, make sure anti missile fire for friendly missiles is off. I had all my missiles shot down by my own turrets.

MISSILE_DEFENSE_FRIENDLY_FIRE = true is the default setting and your anti missile turrets will shoot at your own missiles. I really think the default should not allow your shots to hit your missiles. If your turrets are not shooting at any missile and they are set to turret and target missiles then there is something else wrong with the turret. When I turn new turrets on I ALWAYS open it back up and turn them off and on again as I've seen activated turrets do nothing until this extra step was taken.

That isn't the default on our server. The admin hasn't changed anything regarding missile defense and turrets only fire on neutral or enemy missiles.

When I test missiles, I ensure that the ship firing the missiles does not have a faction block and has not been docked to anything that has a faction.

    Let me check.
    • Deletes server.cfg
    • updates game to latest version
    • runs game to create new server.cfg
    • checks
MISSILE_DEFENSE_FRIENDLY_FIRE = true //can shoot down own or missiles from own faction

It is in fact still set to default to on. Somebody had to have changed it.
