Large ISPs are wanting to have the power to slow, and even break sites, just like ours and millions of others. This would destroy the free and open internet that we all know and enjoy, communities like ours would fail to flourish and even be shutdown completely.

For the good of everyone on the internet, we must act against this. We can do it together, and by you joining in, we're all one small (but important) step forward to prevent this disaster from happening.

So I'm reaching out to all of you, to join in with us as we fight for Net Neutrality.

Those companies don't even give you the rates and speeds in the contracts. As time goes on they slowly make it slower constantly. It's like someone slowly turning the music down with the dial

We must do what we can. We don't realise our powers, but the companies do. This is why they want to erode your powers with things like this. Do you want your internet to look like Australia's?

First they came for the pirates, I did not speak out, as I was not a pirate.
Then they came for the 'terrorists' I did not speak out, as I was not a terrorist.
Then they came for the consumer. There was noone left for me.

Many years on and that poem is still relevant.

As an Australian, I am slightly offended, but I agree. Australia has the worst internet in the world, and has been proven several times.

It is currently illegal, however, the companies are fighting to make it legal.

Can they succeed sounds quite fishi to me? That is as if a glass manufacturer want to make throwing rocks at people's homes legal.

And I know this May sound selfish, but how would that affect Europe?

And don't want to offend people from the USA. But things like that are the reason that we say things like "will be as bad as in America" if we want to say something is absolutely stupid and horrible. Like your NRA, literally no one understands this outside from the USA.

Because internet providers provide the internet Marcus. There is only one internet. There may be different browsers and different providers but they all connect to the same internet. They want to do this to the whole internet.

Because internet providers provide the internet Marcus. There is only one internet. There may be different browsers and different providers but they all connect to the same internet. They want to do this to the whole internet.

dont they get paid for their service? And when they provide horrible service why do the people not change to a different company? End when they all do the same is that not something for the state to handle? I mean does the US not regulate these things?

And most importantly these are amerikan company´s dealing with american law. I am quite certain that would be illegal in germany and even if they win in the US it would be illegal here.

I am confused :confused:

In Australia's defence the capital cities internet is quite fast but everywhere else in Australia is slow. Australia is a continent with only about 23million so there isn't a lot of people per square kilometres.

The internet is not a national thing. Companies are not limited to only say France. No these are global companies attempting to put a global noose over the internet. These companies don't give a shit about what country your in.

But they still have to follow the law. Same with an taxi company from the US that wanted to start here in germany. They did not follow the law so they were shut down.

These companies may have no competition in the US but in other countries this is not the case.

Yes, but they are fighting to get this worldwide. These are not all US companies, they are companies from all over the world.
