Docking groups

    Once the bug that prevents you from linking docking points to the hotbar is fixed, it'd be nice if you could group multiple docking points together so that you wouldn't be limited to being able to launch a maximum of ten craft from the hotbar.
    For example, say that you have a carrier with 20 fighters, controlled by AI. If you group 2 docks each holding a fighter together, you could assign that group to the hotbar instead of individual docking points and thus by firing while you have the group selected, not one but two fighters would be undocked. To me it seems a fairly straightforward suggestion. Opinions?

    Probably already planned in some form, but yeah, the ability to link multiple things to one hotkey would be quite useful as one might imagine.

    Hotbar logic is already planned (the devs are figuring out how to keep it sane), so you could set up a single activation block on the hotbar to launch 20 fighters at once. Or set up two activation blocks, so you launch 10 at a time. Or 4 activation blocks to launch 5 at a time. Etc.

    Can the logic blocks affect docking yet? I haven't played with that relationship. If so, then the hotbar-mountable-logic game update will be the one to look for.

    In the meantime, if the logic effect is currently available for docking, can you set up the activation block(s) and then tap the activation in build mode and then switch immediately back to flight mode? In that case, they won't even take up any space on your hotbar.

    I believe logic can activate non-enhanced docks (standard 7x7x7 ones). I used this to pimp up a drone carrier I had somewhere.

    It was fun.

    Good idea. It'd be a lot more useful for launching fighters or launching projectiles.
