So I just bought myself a brand-new gaming laptop and figured, why not see how much Starmade it can handle?
The laptop, first of all is a Dell, it came with windows 10 64bit pro and a free trial of McAfee security, it has sufficient RAM, CPU, graphics capabilities.

So I've installed java RE 8 update 192 64bit. I download the game launcher, extract it to a folder, tell it where I want the game installed, and download the latest release (v0.201.200g) and click "launch."

After that, the only thing I get is a tiny java window saying "preparing files (one time operation)...", which sits there doing nothing indefinitely. task manager tells me it's using a flat 34.1mb of ram and shows zero activity on the CPU or disk.

I'm lost here; no idea why the program is hanging at this particular point or what to do about it.

Update: I seem to have been able to bypass this; I downloaded the old version of the launcher, and was able to load the game. no explaination for why the new launcher should have a problem, though.

indeed there shouldnt be any reason for that ! the black screen with the notifier for "preparing files (one time operation)..." is already the game that is running and not the Launcher anylonger.

so i guess either a broken game files download or the game launcher (which is starting the game with its own java version ) is missing some rights to access the game folder for starmade. the old launcher does use the java installed to the windows OS and the new one doesnt on default.
