at this point, i think we need a "youtuber / streamer" category for threads.

no offense mate, but you dont seem to want to do a shipyard thread to put these in, i figure this is a good alternative.

last time we had more than one thread for a singular video - and an additional one too. people can still see "new posts" on the home page of the dock, and new threads under forum. theres no need for a new thread for every video (yarp?).

I don' t recall anyone suggesting to me that these videos should go into a shipyard thread. I agree about the lack of a video category though I saw these three episodes as a complete works and as they did neither showcase a particular build or "shipyard" but were a moving screenshot so to speak, I shared them here.

If I do similar works again I will post in what I feel to be the most appropriate category available at the time I post. If I feel that it is part of a greater group of work, such as a shipyard thread, in future, I will create such a thread for these videos.

Until such time as an Administrator or Moderator advises me otherwise I will share in the most appropriate location I see fit.

The last video you posted (then Jack reposted in a seperate thread) came under similar criticism.

My point is, as a whole, have one thread for these things - people will subscribe (i would - i like what yer doing!) but we dont need multiple threads on it. One thread should do.

I am afraid that I didn't see any such comment, nor did I notice that Jack had reposted the link elsewhere.

I will create a new thread next time as appropriate.
    Hrmmm...
Does this qualify as "Fan Art?"
Well, this is a double edged question if ever I heard one LOL!

To me, art encompasses pieces of static work such as paintings, sculptures, etc but also moving images, music, photography and so on. With this in mind, yes, I believe it is art or a "moving screenshot".

If someone was to post a .gif taken from the game would this not be considered as "art" because it moves?

If you are suggesting that it is in the wrong category, well, as Sachys alluded to we don't have a video category (and I agree that we should have one) so I simply posted in the one I felt most appropriate.

Or, if you are suggesting that my videos don't qualify as being art as they are "crap" then that is your opinion. Thanks for that. Good, bad or indifferent, it's all constructive.

A three part RP Mini-series written by myself and featuring characters created by https://starmadedock.net/members/anthros1984.426188/
    Congrats for the great work!

There's some really nice cinematography and editing in those videos. I also like the audio editing, the employment of a good text-to-speech application, and the eloquent narration. I guess one should be more familiar with the faction and its members that were mentioned to fully appreciate the story, but it still was interesting.

Cinematic work like this mini-series are really effective in reminding me of the immense creative potential within StarMade.

The game really gives us the freedom and resources to create a whole Sci-Fi movie set with all of its props and environments. And upon witnessing the productions of those who have lived with this opportunity, I always get inspired and feel a desire to dive into creating a script, a proper camera ship, some plot assets, and start shooting right away, if only I had the time and patience... Maybe some day.

And I agree, of course it qualifies as art... Again, great job! (y)

Thank you for your valuable feedback. I really appreciate it.

I had built props and sets for Gary Kanes StarMade Adventures series, came up with the Rey Oulik character, whom the main protagonist, Captain Anthros mentions a few times, particularly in series one.

Gary and I would also discuss plot and I even came up with some dialogue that was partly used in one episode. I enjoyed being part of the greater production team and Gary suggested that I created my own content which obviously I am now doing.

More recently I have been collaborating with Jack from Mission Reloaded Gaming after pestering him for a year with comments and even a custom Hyena Day One Scavenger when I realised that they were playing on the same server as me! He too has encouraged me to create videos and some of the content is based upon our Star Destroyer project we have been working on.

Anyway, enough of all that. Thanks again for your kind words.

I thought it was nice. I just saw you guys talking about what forum the thread was in and tossed in my two cents. No reason it shouldn't be in Shipyards or wherever, but Fan Art seemed the most appropriate. I think I must've missed some of the nuance of your conversation though.

There does seem to be a bit of a grey area and the lack of a video category probably makes this worse. I have now created a Shipyard thread but, it did cross my mind that certain videos (like this mini-series) doesn't fall into a "shipyard" category. It uses the game for purely entertainment purposes. While some non-dramatized videos are obviously "entertaining", this seemed to be separate and there are other people who do similar work.

So, from now on I will post mostly in my shipyard thread, but until we get a dedicated videos thread, I will share other videos as Fan Art/Screenshots as this seems the most appropriate.
