For a very long time now we needed the spawn camera to help preload chunks. Do we still need this? It seems like needed chunks for spawning are preloaded now using another method and all the orbital camera does is make load times much longer near planets and large stations.

In an extreme example I have made planets aggressively larger in one of my local universes loaded off SSD. My computer has an i7 and a gtx with 8gb of vram plus 16gb of ddr4. It struggles far too much. I suspect it would load much faster with this feature disabled or removed entirely.

Agreed, either remove it or change it to something less stomach-churning....

Logically, you would just have the spawn button spawn you immediately instead of waiting for the remaining chunks to load.

Honestly an option to turn the orbiting cam off and/or slow it down a ton so it's less lag inducing might be long overdue.
I would like to be able to use that orbital cam in game. It makes a good screen saver when afk.

I say we get rid of it unless Schine purchases rights to The Twilight Zone theme to play while you wait to spawn.

Maybe have the ability to easily change the angle and speed of the orbiting camera for some really cool videos?
Would make it have a purpose at least...

I have to agree that its unnesecarily nauseating watching that thing go round n round. I would prefer a static camera at the location the player would be spawned, maybe even being able to rotate the view around ourselves. But keep the chunk loading at game start down to the chunks immediately around the players spawn location until after theyve spawned, then start loading other chunks. Basically prioritize whats important, and show us what were going to be looking at when we spawn, not everything in the entire sector. Especially not in the near impossible to track and make sense of way we have now. Its really cool i saw that weird looking thing fly by right there. I still have absolutely no idea where that was in reference to where im going to spawn.
