So guys, i abandoned this game several times because I dont like too much pvp and multiplayer, I enjoy more sp stuff.
I left with the power 2.0 update. Is it worth to start playing again alone? Is there enougth PvE content as to have some hours or fun? Or just kill 2 or 3 cheap pirates, mine a planet and all the pve is done?
    Thanks in advance

Your Answer: No. Game isn't different in any means via Singleplayer as it is Multiplayer. Besides the fact your alone in a local server.

    Lol no.

Exception: You spend hours downloading CC stations and ships to totally change your game. I wouldn't do that as it's just too much time wasted for like 5 hours additional gameplay.

    Right now? NO!
After Universe update? Probably there will be enjoyable single player.

Right now singleplayer is used to design and experiment, then you apply those in multiplayer be it roleplaying with friends, showing it of in a peacefull server, or kicking ass in pvp!

    Right now?

No. Right now we're still getting the base mechanics for how ships/stations function put in place. The pirates are only there as a stand in to give us something to test systems on. There is literally nothing in the game right now that isn't there solely to enable testing. Any actual gameplay we can get out of it is what we make for ourselves right now.

That will come after the mechanics get nailed down. Hopefully after the universe update when they say everything will be more or less finalized we can start getting into that.

Right now though? To use another game as an example, World of Warcraft. You're asking about quests and raids, and we're still working on how to make the character jump and swing their sword. Heck, with reactor chambers just now becoming a thing, you could say we only now got the basic concept of classes introduced.

This is really depressing when you consider starmade is 4 years old... :(

There are 3 code developers as of right now...
One and a half one. Auburn isnt active, just like some other people on the "about us" page. And nightrune is part time, and I am not even sure if he is working 20 hours a week or even less.

Yeah, some posters tend to forget that Starmade is basically being made by one or two guys in their garage in their spare time.

The problem isn't that development is slow, it's not slow actually, the weapon update arrived sooner than i expected! The thing is Schema redesigned A LOT in this game instead of adding, wich is why the game still doesn't offers more gameplay than in 2016, the redesigning is understandable (if something isn't even coded in an optimised efficent manner let alone work as an engaging and balanced feture it should be redesigned) but it is ultimately what couses the "slow" development.

    So... it's a sandbox game.

Ever play alone in a sand box? You build stuff, have some imaginary action go on, etc. Mostly sandbox play revolves around building though; it's not meant to be like Diablo where you get a bunch of specific adventures to go on and bosses to kill.

    Like Lego.

Zero content, but thousands of hours of fun. For creative-minded builders who enjoy building.

Yeah, but that is slated to change eventually. There is plenty of stuff on the table for NPC empires and trading and all sorts of things to make the universe much more alive and interesting, even in single player.

We're just not done with making ships work to the point we can focus on things to DO with those ships yet.

Its well older than 4. Schema's forum account was made in 2012, and the game existed in some state on 4chan before that.
Yeah. Not personally familiar before about 2014, but the Wikipedia article makes it sound like he had some form of it even as early as 2010 or before.
