    Hey folks,

I took a break from SM to wait for Power 2.0, now I'm here and I can't find up-to-date information on *any* of the wikis/sites (even 3rd-party ones, searches for "chamber" bring up nothing). Luckily one or two thoughtful community members have made some contributions to my information search: A Simple Graph of the Chamber Tree

I'm really saddened by the apparent lack of community involvement right now (wikis being my metric). So has the community gone into hibernation until the weapons update? Or are we out of steam?

Please show me where you're all hiding,

    -A Concerned Citizen

StarMade Wiki (this one: Starmadepedia - The Official StarMade Wiki), at most had 3 active editors at any one time. We did have a bot that would automatically update wiki pages as updates went on. However, it's currently out of service.

The best place for up to date, well discussed information is here.

I can't speak for others but I for one haven't been playing much since power 2.0 brought on some really unwelcome changes, such as systems taking extra damage for having a long or complex shape (AKA not being a cube ), shields not covering your ship properly if you don't build them in a single solid brick, and generally being required to have reactor parts far away from my reactor if I want any decent power output to mass ratio.

And I haven't been writing much either, ever since the spanish inquisition (unexpectedly) took over forum moderation and hand out warnings and weekly bans for no good reason, then strike up a PREVIOUS POST as a SECOND OFFENSE, then to top it off, refuse to respond when called out on their obvious mistake.

Seriously. Did you fire those people already, or do I just go back into inactivity for a couple more months?

I have also stopped playing a lot of starmade since the power update 2.0 was incorporated, many things have changed (and only in my personal opinion, have they changed for the worse).

Unfortunately, many of those changes have been made, even though the players themselves have expressed their disagreement, but, what can we do, nothing ...

I hope that the developers, realize that, limiting each and every one of the aspects of starmade, limits the creativity of building anything, and that, in the end, is what makes players think, if they want to invest more time in something that constantly changes and does not have a fixed direction.

All the game versions are STARMADE. It's impossible to not love this game in one of it's versions. Why does everyone believe only the newest versions matter, IDK.
    - WoW got down the drain due to unfortunate updates and mindless development years ago. But private servers offering pre-Cataclism realms are doing really fine, sometimes better than official servers.
    - WoT has gone for realism instead of fun, (sorry, there are no private WoT servers, so what is lost is lost).
    - Minecraft got simplified, but got more colorful blocks. Who likes to play it with automated contraptions making rare materials or simply duplicating sand forever, plays old versions pretty fine on servers who offer old versions. Who avoids redstonery goes for the new versions, to each his own.
Why would STARMADE be different? I do not understand why a lot of people dislike where it is heading, but they still avoid making servers for their favorite versions and instead deconstruct their loved ships and refit them for something they say is no longer fun to play. If it's true that the game is derailing from what you like more and more, development is never done according to your needs, then why don't you stop the race, get off this train and return to the times where you were happy? It's so easy! Why don't you do it?

I mean, either you never liked the game but you hope for it to develop into something you like in the next few years, in which case maybe it's not the right game for you anyway, (please, leave this game and its forums for said years) either you loved this game and Schema changed it, in which case the first impulse is the right one: Choose to fully and utterly ignore the current development and play the game you loved and no other untill you get sick of it. And do not forget to thank Schema for the gem he found and gave you, before he made it back into another sort of mud.

I found ONE good thing coming out of 2.0:

1.99 has never been more stable. I might actually finish a ship when chris isn't doodling in the code every other month.

Yeah those assholes who don't like what schine is doing can just fuck off! This is definitely a good policy, and has only helped bring the community together and improved the quality of the game (y)

Right now the best source are the news posts and the wiki for up to date information: You read the news posts first, and if you have a question to a mechanic that didn't got altered in the last few updates the old wiki pages might still be helpfull. Even though you will have some troubles as gathering the informations for efficient building is quite hard this way.

If I were a wiki editor myself I wouldn't bother until the updating mechanics are finished before I update any pages.

Ofcourse your observation is right, people are a little silent right now because we have to wait for a playable version.

What I meant is you don't have to use, test or even ever play the 2.0 power with 3.0 weapons if you do not like it. I meant you don't have to beta-test for free if you do not like what you see. You are here to have fun, not to change the minds of developers or get pissed on some mods. They are paid and do their job as good as they can, you are not.

Take what is good from this soup and leave the rest for others to eat, maybe they like it. And since you get all versions for free or for 15$, including the one you love and Schema considers obsolete, you could thank the man for the version you love and let him work the rest of his life perfecting what you do not like anyway, I mean the newest versions. IDK why that looked like ass-kissing, what I suggested was a polite divorce, (it's polite to say ty when you keep the house and car and the other one only keeps his capacity to work and earn), but whatever...

    if only that analogy fit...

then again, even if it did, it wouldnt make any sense. you ever been involved in a divorce where someone takes the house and car? its usually not very polite lol

I mostly stepped out during the wait for power 2.0. And Now I'm mostly out until the weapons update is at least mostly finalized. I don't really care to redesign my combat ships more than once. Although I occasionally pop in to work on hull shapes or the like. Haven't been active in the community because I haven't been active in the game.

That said, I'm pretty pleased with the current direction of things, and I didn't invest time into an alpha with the expectation it wouldn't change on some major levels before release.

It seemed like the devs had no unified direction for general systems of the game before power 2.0 but at least what was there was somewhat polished and worked.

New updates still lack direction and have no polish.
