I came across a few highly share-worthy scenes today.

First, I was looking around in the star-map of my singleplayer universe, when I noticed a binary system in which one of the stars was red... now how nice is that! I also never encountered a system with such a brightly lit nebular background - makes me wonder whether real celestial skyscapes might look like this within young star systems where the stellar wind didn't yet do much in blowing away the cloud from which the central star originally formed. Also, the asteroids create a pleasingly bizarre contrast with the light background:

Here's a look around a StarMade equivalent of a "blue giant" (Blue giant - Wikipedia) seen with the Bloom Effect turned on:

Here's another binary system with one of the stars strangely lit by the other, and offset from the system's center to an unusual degree:

And then this happened... The story is that I'm planning to build a ~400 meter tall animatronic guitar player with a bare, 50 meter tall skull for a head. I had to import a 3D model of a human skull with SMEdit into an older version of StarMade, which I quickly downloaded for this purpose, and deleted the default Isanths, but didn't mess with the default configs (so the enemy-usability of my blueprints was left turned on). I accidentally fired at a shop, and the next second I looked the other way and saw a bunch of giant skulls floating there, some slowly rotating and some jumping around. - No weapons or anything, but still the scariest Trading Guild fleet I ever had to deal with:

Hello my name is Chazz, I thought this would be the most convenient place to post what I found in the category of Majestic, and "Anomalies" in STARMADE.

I was building on a planet then decided to build a station outside the atmosphere. When messing around on a station, I realized something Interesting. I thought that I was rotating, but I wasn't rotating but the atmosphere around me instead. Here are some gifs to show the rotation. Between each gift you can clearly see that the SUN is moving. What ahhh view.... If you want a rotating atmosphere; Well it is easy, just build a station or ship next to the atmosphere of a planet(NOT in the bubble of the planet) and Whala

This is very interesting and odd, because StarMade planets don't orbit around their host star, nor do they seem to rotate around their axes when viewed from afar.

Might it be that once a player enters a "sphere of influence" at a certain distance from the planet's surface, then both the player and the planet get actually rotated to produce the appearance that the outerspace sky is revolving?

You seem to have remained stationary relative to the planet surface - perhaps another player who would be stationary relative to that star and the background would see you and the planet spinning when viewing from outside?

    in the cfg

UNIVERSE_DAY_IN_MS = 1200000 //how long is a 'day' (stellar system rotation) in milliseconds (-1 to switch off system rotation)

By default it's a 20 minute "day" in sector rotation, drop it to 20000 for 20 second day and planets should become hilarious dreidels

This is an interesting topic choice and those are some beautiful screen shots.

Since I can terraform nearly any planet to look like my (canon) faction homeworld or simply build a planet instead, I sometimes pick my home base based on the nebula background. Building is fun but having a nice nebula sky really adds something to the experience.

Those are some very nice industrial yard-themed detail elements there (y)

I particularly like the crane and the suspended electric power lines.

And I agree, the nebular background can strongly affect the mood of a building environment, and I too take care to choose nice ones, sometimes spending as much as 10 minutes to admin-warp through my galaxy before starting a new project, just to have a suiting background.

The nebula background hunting is also what I am doing, but in survival. I sometimes jump into 10 different galaxies with my freshly mined 7x7x12 mini jumper-salvager.

Fun part is, that I also try to find a place thats near a shop and also gives me a nice view to nearby unloaded planets still drawn as icon.

Can take up to an hour on a survival server to find my spot. :D

I'd say it's kinda necessary and pays off... For example, I personally find very dark backgrounds (example, dark red, dark blue or you know, fully black backgrounds near the boundaries of star systems) to put me into a low, demotivated mood. While light-but-not-too-light and diversely colored backgrounds are somehow conducive to a good workflow.

And once you're finished with searching for such a suiting work environment, it will serve well for a long while.
