    That's running water, in a pipe, and I can tell you from personal experience that boiling coffee and water flowing through a big-ass pipe like that sound remarkably similar. (when you don't have ear-protection anyway, then you can't hear the coffee at all.)

    Not necessarily water running through the conduit, could be whatever space magic unicorn farts that power our ships.

    Yeah, when I can hear my coffee it's usually in the midst of exploration. It says things like, "Go on.. shoot that station. What could possibly go wrong?" and I'm like, *gulp gulp gulp* "Take that coffee! I'm not going through that again."
