Pictured Below: The strength of many worlds. Left to Right: Coalition Hoplite, a defensive fighter that uses inertia-enhancing missiles to halt foes in their tracks. Middle, the last thing any enemy of the Coalition wants to see, a Coalition Legionnaire. Right, the Coalition's eyes behind the veil, the Coalition Dragoon.

The Coalition of Systems is the last main faction that will be on my upcoming MicroMade server. Standing for peace, prosperity, cooperation, and freedom, the white-and-crimson colors of these ships is a welcome sight to those in need of assistance, and a feared sight to their enemies.

Coalition Ships use some of the most advanced technology in the galaxy. Coalition ships either mount powerful Beam/Beam weapons, that reload slowly, but deal withering damage, or alternatively mount torpedos that use technologies to bend the very laws of physics. All Coalition ships are shielded, with a special module on the ventral fuselage containing the bulk of the shielding for the vessel. Coalition ships are roughly as maneuverable as their Valron counterparts, but tend towards being a little less so.

Where the Valron prefer to mount Jammers to strike without warning, the Coalition, in keeping with their original scientific focus, mount Scanners to aid in exploration and making first contact with new species. That it disrupts both cloaks and jams is a very neat bonus.

Where Coalition ships truly falter, is their reload times. Coalition weapons hit hard, but take an eternity to reload. If you can avoid a shot from a Coalition ship, you've got some time to retaliate, or flee.

Esthar Fleet Systems regularly fills orders for the noble Coalition. If you see any suspicious activity, notify Coalition Security immediately. And, remember: Only by working together, can we make things better!

Note from Builder: I had a lot of fun working on these! I'll be moving onto stations next. However, I plan to upload all of the MicroMade faction sets up to StarMade Dock, and would gladly take suggestions, ideas, and feedback regarding these vessels. I don't plan to make new topics for stations, I'll append to each of the topics I've created.

If you enjoy these, stations are coming next, as mentioned. While I haven't settled on a mass limit for stations, if I even go with any, I intend for MicroMade stations to be completely different than what's included in vanilla StarMade - these stations will have parkour puzzles, helpful public facilities, secure trading rooms, and all manner of other suprises in store. I'm looking forward to building them, and even more forward to getting MicroMade up and running. Thanks for viewing these!

Time to show one of the Coalition's 'older' station designs, used more typically as deep space outposts - the Type A Station!

    Station A Beauty Shot.png Station A Aft Shot.png Station A Shipyard Shot.png Station A Ventral Shot.png Station A Industrial Shot.png Station A Infirmary Shot.png

The base itself is small - around 800 mass - but packs two powerful Coalition turrets, and hosts an impressive 13x13x13 shipyard for manufacturing small craft that bolster the station's defenses. The station also has a full industrial suite, but only has limited medical facilities.

These stations can be defeated by a determined enemy, so you probably shouldn't use one as a home base. Nonetheless, the Type A Station is a welcome sign to any spacefarer looking for a safe, if temporary, port.

For those who want to do their part for the Coalition of Systems, we think you should see the cutting-edge military hardware you will be piloting.

Coalition Squire Beauty Shot.png Coalition Squire Aft.png

This is the A-31 Coalition Squire. This ship is tailor-made for a raw recruit to work alongside their fellows from the various systems, and protect the alliance we've forged since leaving Earth.

The Squire mounts two rapid-charge, rapid-fire beam cannons. A small jump drive is installed so that you can respond to emergent threats. That being said, where the vessel shines, is its advanced armoring, which has useful absorptive properties - especially useful, given that this model of fighter has minimal shields.

We issue this hardware to newcomers. While this is hardly a Legionnaire-class cruiser, it's a great way to learn standard Coalition tactics and systems, until you're certified on flashier hardware. That being said, we encourage recruits to upgrade this fighter as they complete missions.

If you haven't enlisted, see your local Coalition Navy recruiter the next time you go to your local food distribution center. Thank you for your time, and we look forward seeing you in one of these, protecting our beloved Coalition.

Do you plan to use this ship for pvp or on your pvp server?

Not really, though a player could. This is a newbie's ship for MicroMade. The point is to start a player with something stronger than cookies, but not too powerful. Most importantly, the newbie ships have a Jump drive installed, to let the player find a place to set up shop.

Just try to fight your own ship in the same ship versus AI. I just see it has a lot of standart armor blocks. Last time i tried to fight myself in my own fighter design I needed +15 minutes. (Colonial Viper Interpretation) After that annoying fight I made heavy system adjustments, like lowering the thruster and shieldings to a minimum and raising the damage as high as the power permited me. It turned out, that a fun to fight fighter design needs a really small ammount of hull, shield and thruster blocks, or it takes ages to beat it with itself. I didn't like to make the fighter really slow, and also I didn't like to strip off all the hull blocks to totally destroy the design. But I see that you build for a pvp server, maybe you might look into your overall design choice again. I think fighting your fighter versus itself might be pretty tedious.

Even with a ship 10x your fighters size, the small fighter you ve built might be near to invulnerable due to its small size. Maybe just call it a scout or exploration vessel with hardened hull...Might fit the lore. =)

A tiny, tough little puddle-jumper like that makes an excellent starter ship, and really encourages a new player to build up.

It might be better to replace the primary beams with salvagers, so that the starter ship can't even do real damage. After all, a privateer starting out in a tiny ship will probably want to focus on mining and trading at first. Weapons will lead to rash decisions, which might lead to a quick defeat. However, that can be a fun way to start an in-game "career" too.
