    While at work, a job that prevents me from playing as much as I want, I was brainstorming for ship ideas and I came up with this body shape I really liked. Originally it was going to be a super carrier, but upon reminding myself I really need to stop building in orbit above the planet I have been, I decided a battlecruiser to hold off pirates while embarking on future projects would be much more useful.

    I'm still pretty early in, but decided to post this up so I can get some feedback and ideas on various aspects.

    So first off, here's an exterior shot: (back end is closest to camera, front end is furthest away)
    exterior.jpg
    The cut away rectangles at the rear and front will be AMT batteries. Currently, this is 32 AMT emplacements, though I am considering adding another battery somewhere in the middle trench area. Roughly in the area of the lights on the front is where I currently plan on putting the primary turrets, which will be programmed to aim at target, which logic wired to enable/disable AI. This will allow me to select a target without firing on it if undesired, but will also allow me to focus fire from my heaviest guns on whatever target I wish without having to keep myself facing it. Secondary, anti-fighter turrets will have batteries on various surfaces. Currently, I'm unsure what to do about the center structure as I don't want it to be just grey rectangles, obviously.

    Next, the core room:
    core room.jpg
    As the ship progresses, I'll replace several of the server racks with weapons computers. The main doorway is not visible in this picture, but there are two smaller doorways, one shown, that will lead to a large room containing logic, with password protected access. I will get into my logic plans in a future update, unless someone asks what my ideas are before then.

    Drop Pod:
    droppod.jpg
    I will have enough drop pods to land a few squads of highly trained marines on a planet. I went ahead and made the pod as I intend to make the tubes and related rooms next, since they will greatly dictate how a portion of the bottom outer surface will look. I will make escape pods later as well, but they will probably shoot out the middle trench rather than the bottom.

    Hangar... ish (ok, just a hangar force-field, I guess):
    interior.jpg
    I decided to go for the fairly popular water-as-force-field approach so that it wouldn't have to be toggled, can be flown throw, but still blocks fire. There will also be a rain blast door added in the future. Note, this angle shows the inside face of the force-field, and exits into a hollow area like on the belly of Star Destroyers (such as where the Tantive IV was boarded in SW ANH), and I intend to design a corvette that will fit comfortably there sometime in the future. The hangar will fit a couple dropships for retrieving the aforementioned elite marines, and a place for cargo and cargo pods to be dropped by supply ships. Essentially, this hangar will be primarily for supplies and personal to be transported through, and will likely not feature any drones or fighters.

    Like the idea your going for! (y)
    EDIT: Name suggestion: Valeur or The Hallowell, as the vessel is kinda reminds me of some exploration type ship. In my opinion I suppose.

    While the finished product DEFINITELY won't be an exploration ship, as it will sport some massive turrets (taking some inspiration from NuclearFun tbh with my plans), those are interesting sounding names to consider, thanks!

    XD hopefully it will be PVP-able!! I plan on loading it with RP features too, though. Tbh, I've never played on a server as I feel I would be of no contribution due to how irregularly I play ^-^;

    I like Rp elements mixed with functionality, the catch is finding the right balance.

    A small update to show I'm still actually working on this large project! I've got a couple small updates on the battlecruiser, and as a break from the overwhelming project am working on a small frigate to help fend off pirates while I build. Also unnamed. ;3;

    BATTLECRUISER UPDATES:
    First, WAY too many droppod tubes (100 count atm, though may change this to be some multiple of 13, rounded up, so I can carry a number of marine squads not split up, assumed to be 3x 4 man firetimes + 1x squad leader)
    droppod tube wip.jpg

    There'll be a bunch of these missile tubes. These ones specifically I intend to be logic-operated, continuously firing heat-seakers to overwhelm AMT/AMS. Due to their intention as more of a distraction than an actual damage-dealer, they will be low powered, with some beefy lock-on missiles intended to be forward-firing (or possibly dorsal fired?) later. The hatches will flip open and closed via rails :D
    missile tubes wip.jpg

    Not much to show here, tbh... I've added space to allow blast shields on rails to slide over and away from the windows though! Technically the windows are crystal armor, so technically it isn't necessary, but I figured it'd look cool when finished.

    I've got the floor plan laid out, but there's not particularly anything to show of interior atm.

    Droppods
    I put in enough droppods to launch a squad of marines!

    [doublepost=1505752894][/doublepost](I should add, those holes in the frigate's armor are where I'm currently working on the flip-open missile hatches, similar to the battlecruiser)

    OH, there is no external bridge, instead having a CIC. I really really want to cram a couple rail torpedo tubes into it, as well :D

    Instead of marine squads you should fit your drop bay with torpedo racks :D Then you have the flexibility to invade planets OR be a monster in ship-to-ship combat!

    I'm already going to have forward-facing torpedo tubes, but thanks :DD I do like designing my ships with RP elements though, and being inspired in part by Halo, I like having drop pods.

    oh man, that looks nice! I'm liking the halo vibe a lot :^D

    As far as names go, I was thinking she looks like she could be an "Ardent" or maybe "Vehement"? Idk I'm not the best at naming ships :LOL:

    Actually, I had been considering using "Ardent" as part of a ship name (though not the ship name on its own), though hadn't picked a ship for it XD Was thinking something like "Ardent Enforcer" or something like that, Idk. Glad you like how it's looking, though! While I'm DEFINITELY taking a few queues from Halo, I'm hoping it won't look TOO much like a Halo ship when I'm done.

    New updates on the accompanying frigate, even though this thread wasn't intended XD Oh well.

    So first, I've pretty much got the silhouette wireframed out, except for part of the thrusters and the MAC. There are currently three turret locations planned for the rear which will most likely house sniper turrets, and three towards the front which will likely house repeater cannons. I'm also looking at locations, of course, for AMTs, and am most likely going to lay out a couple spots for missile turrets.

    I'm pretty happy with the thrusters so far, though...
