i know its not easy to program a game i was wondering if anyone had thought of the blocks floating in space after a fight invisibly attached to your ship should they become damaged over time or just shatter because they are no longer physically attached to the ship i think it would add to the game to not have blocks floating several spaces away

not all blocks just damages blocks that are no physically attached to the ship might help with lagg in those large space battles

This is part of the game. just not enabled. Does not help with lag so far, just more things to ram into while fighting.

There is also the issue that the game crashes, when the junks breaking off are too large.

What about making these debris un-interactable for a single minute? That will let the debris float through the ship.

This will work for turrets too. We can just let it pass through blocks for a few seconds, and let the debris fly away.

Or, we can just make overlapping blocks to delete each other.

I think it'd take away from the game since it would hinder the creation of alien "space magic" ships.

Lets add an invisible, 1HP, 0 struc HP, 0 Armor HP block to connect them.
yeah but that is now more blocks to worry about placing to stop things from falling off when building ships

I think this would be an excellent addition to the server settings as an alternative to "break-away". It should only affect disconnected blocks that are not built that way. By restricting "detachment decay" to post-build damage detachment, you can still build "space magic" ships. That are very, very fragile to any kind of damage, as they probably should be.

I would like to see the break away mechanic actually usable since it's been in the game so long.
The broken segments should be non physical long enough to get clear of the ship. They also need to decay after a few minutes to prevent unnecessary junk. They should stay around long enough that you can salvage them if you want to though.

i see your points i wouldn't want to ruin anyones builds create some space blocks blocks you can only see in build mode and they blink in and out so you can see what your doing

If we would have to use invisible intangible blocks to keep our creations working we could use area trigger blocks, pick up rails or other blocks like this

I have a way to make this work without breaking anyone's builds, though it admittedly might nerf them a bit: destroy blocks that are not connected, but ONLY if armor HP is depleted. So you can still make ships with floaty bitz, they just won't make very good armor tanks, which is not what I think most people going for the "super techy alien" vibe want anyway.
