    being picky, but, the walls are really too flat for me. Perhaps some detail on them will help, and some greeble/machinery on the floor in the area, but isnt nescessary. just to break up the fact that its a long hollow cuboid

    I did want to add greeble but I was sick of the whole endeavour because of rail bugs tiring me out, so I rushed out a functional gif first. I'll touch up the minor details tommorow and reupload it soon :D

    I did want to add greeble but I was sick of the whole endeavour because of rail bugs tiring me out, so I rushed out a functional gif first. I'll touch up the minor details tommorow and reupload it soon :D
    Aaah okay that explains that. Did have the though that maybe this was a WIP, but a little reminder after a long time building an accursed rail contraption like this wouldnt hurt.

    I was in SMD chat before, during and after that. If remember correctly, SMD chat was talking about assembly stations for ships, then mechs when somone brought up Skylord's Mech Station. I decided to do tanks after asking Crusade: "Mechs or tanks?", to which he replied "tanks".
    Still, a mech version would be cooler but would be much much more complicated, so I probably would have done tanks either way :P

    Pickup rails/pickup points and are a royal pain.

    I was going to do a factory for my utility armor and station security units but I put it on hold when I realized that pickup points/contact docking ignored nearly every attempt I made to dock an object without using a rail docker beam. The best I could manage was a "cosmetic factory" which I promptly scrapped after I couldn't justify the practicality of it in multi-player.

    I don't care that you didn't greeble it; you can always do that later. I'm just impressed that you had the skill and the patience to actually pull this off.

    how do you achive this flexible docking? Do you redock the entities or is changing rails possible now?
    The parts are undocked from the factory rails and picked up by a point in the tank.

    Now if we could automate the process of feeding the assembly line with the required components via an automated shipyard/3d block printer :), that can undock the manufactured entity right onto a rail connected to the assembly line ... :)
