Honestly, as an average player, I just find it all incredibly confusing.

I don't see how most casual players are going to be able to build ships with this system without getting a starmade degree lol.

i don't want the point of entry for starter ships to be really at all any more difficult than it is right now, i just want the skill ceiling to be higher at larger sizes. the thing that makes people what to get better at the game is content that they've not learned to use to full potential yet, right?
a sense of progression as you learn the functions of more and more blocks, and how to use them to your advantage is important to players who are average but might want more from the game. it's like... minimal effort is easily achievable, but if you're the type that wants to go further, all the layers of complexity that one can utilize past the minimum is like starmade's closest equivalent to "new game plus."

bringing the skill ceiling too low means that the difference between a very dedicated player versus a beginner will be much less significant than it should be.

Ideally you don't have to teach someone to play your game, but if you want to do something new and interesting sometimes its not known what the best way to teach them it. Right now starmade isn't the greatest at it but its a lot better with the new videos.

There could be a lot of ways to show the user that they are placing inside a heat bound. It could be with color, with the cursor, and a myriad of other ways, but it is a valid concern about how someone will learn to progress.

    EDIT: Grammar

I still wanted to say that I would feel terrible if this idea goes trough, which it probably will. I design ships in a way that fits with the current power system, but totally not with this one. This idea comes to buiding interior around a central reactor room. But I don't build interior inside, I buid it ON TOP of my ship to save space. Great idea now, but useless with the new system. Please shine, DON'T DO THIS!!
