Tetras wouldn't help in this situation. OP is looking for a corner block where the square base is cut in half diagonally, which is a distinct shape. If you try to use a tetra there, you can't line it up with both the wedge on the side and the wedge above and behind it.

Given there would need to be a left and a right version, I would assume there would be issues with symmetry.
You just have to accept at some point that not every shape will be included.

Dang, I actually needed these for a geometric ship I was working on, though I just modified it to use Tetras/Pentas. These and Inverted Corners would be nice to have, I'm glad I'm not the only one who wants them.

This falls under the same issues with wedge slabs. We will eventually want every conceivable shape. I must say that it is possible we may never see this shape and I shall explain why. If we were strictly a cube game, the need for this shape would never exist, as it becomes practical when wedges are placed in certain direction near each other. Shapes demand more shapes in order for our vast imaginations to build everything we want. Eventually we have to draw the line.

I can't say whether we will ever get this shape. That will probably be determined at a later date. We want to increase the number of blocks the game can support, which this directly ties into. Every new shape adds a good number of new blocks to our ID's list.

I think it's time to change the way starmade currently handles shapes. They ought to simply be a hull cube that can be cycled through a number of different shapes with a set of keys. When removing such shapes from a structure you would get base shape back shape back. Perhaps it would tell you what shape it was set to by showing you the wire frame of the shape.

    edit:
This would allow for more than 5 hull shapes and give a point to having more than one of the same hull color on your hotbar in creative mode, as each stack on your hotbar could be set to a different one.

    Already planned.

But the limit for block IDs affects the blocks in ships, not the blocks in the inventory.

You mean it's a limit on the number of different types of block the game can render at once? Not a limit of how many different blocks are available in total?

The game currently uses 3 bytes of data per block for entities. These 3 bytes include block ID, orientation, activation state and block HP. Adding a fourth byte (which schema might do at some point) would allow for more IDs, but it would increase entity data in memory by 33%. If you have a ship with 1 million blocks, that's 1 MB. On the other hand, if you have 1 million items of one type in your inventory, the game only has to store the ID once as well as the number of items. That's maybe up to 10 bytes per block type. In short, block items aren't the problem, it's the physical blocks.
