Make power and heal beams part of the suit, use different beam colors

Should basic beams be part of the astronaut suit, and be in their own item slot?

Lets make some equipment part of the suit. Already the suit has a built-in salvage beam, lets also make the heal and and power beams part of the suit, and map the a beam/weapon slot, and map these to it's own action part slots. The "=" key could be mapped to this slot, and hitting the "=" repeatedly would change the selected beam type. Adding the marker beam may be a good idea, as, without it, warp gates can't be built.

This will eliminate the annoying block placement instead of salvage issue when building structures in astronaut mode, or salvage instead of repair when fixing blocks. It'll also make some base/essential equipment always available.

The beam colors should also be changed to provide a visual indication of effect, in case the player doesn't notice what beam they have active at the moment.

White: Salvage, because it's the color most people are used to seeing and using.
    Light blue: Power
    Red/Green: Heal/repair
    Purple: Marker beam

I'd also love to see the suit capable of making astronaut gear too, in a special one-off factory menu. Power beams made from just metal and crystal, other weapons made with ship modules-- and even the ability to change a weapon color by adding a crystal block.

I'm all for reducing inventory clutter, I played enough games where I ended up spending more time sorting items than actually playing the game.

Yeah, I remember loving the inventory system in DeusEx the first two play-throughs. By the fifth (of twelve) I was referring to DeusEx as the inventory game. Or 'fun-with-crates'.

If you are going to include the marker beam with the suit, it needs to be able to store multiple gates. Preferably with the ability to name each one.

To be honest, I think the marker beam system is counter-intuitive. Would be better if accessing the jump gate computer pulled up a list of possible owned gates in range, similar to teleporters, and then just select a gate to link to. Although there should be a cooldown for switching between gates, and a "ramp-up" time before the gate can be used after a switch.
