    Well, it happened again...

System performance issues have caused a fun multi-player server to shut down, due to endless lag and crashes. So now I find myself looking for a new one. It's obvious to me that this game isn't ready for the kind of building most people are trying to do so I'm shifting gears to look for something that works. With that said, I'm looking for a server that matches my play style.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a server with the following.

    - English is the primary lanuage
    - Reliable; minimal lag and not freezing/crashing every other day.
    - A nice blend of PVE, PVP, and some role play. (That "Light vs Dark" theme was awesome...)
    - Players who aren't size-obsessed and will actually engage in combat with something other than a titan

All input and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Right there with you, Dr. Whammy. I was tempted to try shattered skies but noticed that they have serious admin problems. I might head over to the server list and check out the current top servers.

I would recommend checking out the server Sol Remembrance, if you are interested in RP. We are still growing, and we have both PvP and PvE. We are also adding new server content almost every day, and while our community so far small, you would (hopefully) find your experience with us interesting! (Recently, we had a bit of time where server reliability was very low, but the issues with said reliability has been fixed and the server is now operating smoothly.)

Wait. Did you say; Sol Rememberance? SOL... Rememberance?

The United Star Axis left that doomed system to its fate more than 70 years ago, when Earth's global economy collapsed. When their government tried to arrest us for refusing to pay tax for colonizing Mars, (something no one else had ever done) we packed up, warped out and didn't look back. We were not expecting to hear from them again...

Nevertheless, I'll definitely take a peek at your server. Thanks for the invitation.

Interesting. Two questions: Is it required to fill out the character sheet prior to logging onto the server? Is teamspeak, or something similar, required?

It is indeed required to fill out a character sheet, just to allow a better RP experience as you will be able to immerse said character fully. (And to keep out the lazier trolls)

Although it is not strictly required, we highly suggest using our discord server as everyday announcements are made there along with it being the main chatting program we use that is not forum based. (If you are not familiar with discord, it is a completely free application that can be both website and/or app based, and is used for both text chatting and voice chatting)

    This is stupid.

Multi-player is very rapidly losing its appeal for me.

It seems like everyone is biased against one-man factions so you are denied access to many servers if you don't grab a bunch of other players and play the stupid space politics game. Mining bonuses on most servers are so extreme that there is no such thing as survival mode and it causes nearly everyone to become a capital ship addict. Everyone quickly works toward the biggest ship they can get their hands on then tries to lord over anyone flying smaller craft. The real kicker; they have the audacity to complain that the game is too easy and no one wants to fight them. Gee, imagine that.

A couple of people made some rather inflamatory threads about StarMade losing steam and ultimately dying out. I respectfully disagreed at the time but now, I'm really not sure what's left for me to do in this game. The multi-player community has all but killed my inspiration due to their obsessions with PVP and capital ships. Then these same people complain about sever lag, as if they aren't the cause of it.

Is there anyone out there who has found (or is hosting) a server...
    - without overly inflated mining bonuses?
    - has not modified the block behavior files? (except for warheads... By all means, buff those)
    - is not biased against one-player factions?
    - is not a lag-fest capital ship warlord playground?

Other than the bias against one man factions and config edits ours might suit you pretty well. It's a little bit of a mess pending an upcoming reset though.

I'd find a server you enjoy, then request an exemption from an admin. Offer to show you're dedicated to the server and/or PvP or whatever it is that the admins of that particular server fear from 1-man factions through consistent actions or something.

Surely there's someone, somewhere, who'll make an exemption.

Sorry Lidren, I appreciate the suggestion but your server is too restrictive for what I'm trying to do.

I will not be held to a 3-person rule. This is the ultimate deal breaker for me. I am very productive for a single player faction; sometimes rivaling some multi-player factions. In one instance, I had a total of 43 starships (each weighing 6-10k mass) stationed in multiple fleets and bases across the galaxy. I don't feel that I should be held to some player count quota because other people are lazy/unreliable.

Also, you don't allow planet mining; another deal breaker. I know it causes some lag if done irresponsibly but I sometimes need to mine planets (when no one else is online) for "Mars" blue rock, "Ice world" frozen rock and to do this...

It would be nice to not have to choose between wasting resources with advanced build mode or wasting time mining by hand.

Finally, you don't allow shipyards on home bases. ...but you allow home bases? Maybe I'm missing something but that doesn't make any sense to me.

Craftau fits all of the above, only problem you may have isnthat the server is in australia.

    -We welcome 1man factions
    -Standard mining settings
-No external app/program needed (besides teamspeak if you wish to join the voicechat)

Try GenXnova. It is very easy to be a one man faction and there are options for PvP, PvE or a mix of both with different zones defining the type of combat able to take place

I do understand your reasoning. I hope you find a server that fits!
