It's entirely possible we will suspend the council. We will be discussing it over the weekend.

This is my formal letter of resignation from the council of intergalactic representatives.

Let's get straight to the point: I made an error in judgement when applying to the third council term, and didn't gauge my already waning interest in the game properly (I expected it to bounce back like it always had). Truth be told, I have very little energy and motivation to invest in the game at the moment. This is due to multiple factors, including but not limited to being tired from my full time job, and finding more interest in other games. In addition, the complete lack of two-way communication between the council and Schine have been very taxing on my patience and trust in the council. What ate at me the most is the fact that nothing has changed, despite the problem being brought up on multiple occasions. As such, I apologize to other councilors and devs that I may have insulted or aggravated with ranting and/or repetitive suggestions (since I literally have no idea if Schine even read them).

In essence, I simply do not have the energy, time or will to conduct proper council duties anymore, and as such can't adequately represent parts of the community that have voted for me anymore. For that, I sincerely apologize.

I will probably be back some day, and will still be on the forums and in-game occasionally. It was a fun journey, and I wish luck to the current councilors, my replacement, and members of the community that will see this game grow to the best of it's insane potential.

Indeed, I hardly have any incentive to play the game at the moment. I'd love to finish my titan, but the constant performance drops in the last updates have all rendered it completely useless (due to lag), so it's not like I'd even be able to actually use it.

From what I have seen the council has been more trouble than its worth. Maybe if their were more people playing StarMade it would be useful, but currently, not really.

On top of that: I know that myself and many others could care less about new features being advanced and would simply prefer Schine to fix all the broke shit that is already implemented in the game. There have been so many instances of people being really psyched for the game joining a server to play survival and then in the same day saying "Screw StarMade, I am never coming back" because of some glitch or broken feature in the game that utterly cripples them out of the blue.

Its also really hard to help those people who get so shafted by in game glitches, bugs, and broken unfinished features because there is not very much of a comprehensive administrating system implemented in the game. You can check logs in the backend of the server yes, but why should it be that difficult?

The point is (I guess): There are too many things already wrong with what is in the game to worry about something like the council.

    +1 and yes x 1000

One cannot possibly say this too loudly or too often to Schine.

...A big factor contributing here is the lack of results. Unfortunately we cannot give attention to feature requests, suggestions and certain bugs or issues because of our priorities. Over the course of time this appears as a lack of actual progress...
Translation: "We at Schine don't give a rat's @$$ about how any of our players feel, or how crippling all the bugs are to their gameplay and their servers. We want to dink around with our own agendas which include: 1) new things to break the game, 2) taking out old things that weren't broken, 3) ignoring things we've promised for +2 years.

    Am I wrong?

    Prove it.

Schine's team has accomplished some really incredible things...but I can't help but feel like we're flying WWII german tanks. The frequency of lag and crashes caused by AABB collisions and LOD issues (usually exacerbated by unskilled, abusive, and gigantism-obsessed players), is clogging what could be a great experience.

What confuses me, is that german engineers are world-renowned thanks in large part to a cultural emphasis upon perfection. I think the roadmap's feature list would be amazing to have in-game, but I'm having difficulty understanding the current apparent emphasis upon swapping-out seats and armor plates; leaving engine stability/predictability, admin/anti-abuse tools, collision fixes, and LOD cleanups, on the long bench.

Schema has joined the council slack (chat system used by the council). This is a MASSIVE step in the right direction, since it eliminates all the middle-men information bottleneck bullcrap that had been pissing me off since the first council. Now the council will be able to communicate directly with the person that essentially makes all the decisions final!

Nope. It all went through criss, hence the "Middle-man info bottleneck bullshit". In fact, I never spoke with Schema in the 1+ year that I was in the council... Not even once... (until yesterday)

Sad to see you go, you were my absolute #1 favorite councillor of all times and always got my first vote.

I really hope you will eventually find back to the game. You were the inventor and initiator of what was probably the most fun (and gigantic) group project in starmade history, the drone R&D thread - and at the same time, there's still a ship we all want to see finished one day, a ship whose constant updates over the years have accompanied the game's development. Keppers, you rule, and I hope I will see you again here, the game would never be the same thing without you if you left permanently! (perhaps after the inevitable performance improvements of future updates? ;))

Thanks a lot for the kind words!

I don't intend to leave permanently. In fact, I think that I'll play a bit lager today, probably to finish the airlock I started 3 weeks ago and left to stagnate, lol.

In my opinion the biggest problem at the moment are the Suggestions itself and the amount. In an Alpha State Game with a huge and creative Player Base it is predictable that if everyone let's his thoughts wander and is given the opportunity to make Suggestions, there will be a massive amount of content after a while. And everyone wishes to see his suggestion in the Game.
Now, let's be honest. We all are Builders and we all are creative. When we start building a Ship or a Station we have mostly concrete Plans what we want our Build to be like (like Shine has Plans for Starmade). Now if someone would come to you and say "Hey, that's a nice Venator Destroyer, but i'd suggest to make the Bridges undock as escape vessels, mount a huge siced Repair Beam Turret on the top and let the Thrusters be rainbow colored..." well... imagine your first thoughts. No one can blame you or Shine for sticking with the Inspiration and the Idea of the Project. But hey, maybe you still have no idea on the Interior for the Venator, wouldn't it be nice to get some suggestions for this?

And that's where i actually see Suggestions and the Council. Why don't let Shine decide where Suggestions are needet and let the Devs and the Community mesh together like Gears to complete the Project. Turn around the actual way of handling things and let the Council bring "still more details needet" cases to the Community.
I think this already worked fine for the Fleet Build Contest. Shine needed Fleets to form a living Universe and the Community answered and built. And i think both sides are fine with that. There wouldn't be a problem like "Shine doesn't listen to us" because Shine asked for an answer.
There still could be random Suggestions, but don't be sad when they don't make it into the Game.

We all should have trust in Shine with this Game because it is already so awesome.

    Greetings
    Dave
