Recognized Players/crew shouldn't be exempt from the block 'destruction' mechanics :)))

So was just doing some thinking when this comment bellow gave me an idea:
    hint hint devs.
we need a reason to shout blood for the blood god when we board ships now.
You know how blocks 'break apart' into pieces when theyre destroyed?
Why can't players/crew do the same when theyre killed as well:?
There doesn't necessarily have to be blood, but at least let limbs and heads fly off :3 before despawning after a certain amount of time.
Blocks already do this so why not players:? It would add a lot more fun to space combat :D

So yeah, apply the same destruction mechanics to players/crew as happens to blocks when they break apart into tiny pieces. It kinda ruins the pvp experience when someone just disappears when you kill them :/

If anything, i'd rather see a corpse fall to the ground if in grav, or float if not... but even then, no. This game attracts kids, and as annoying as they may be, we can't drive them away like that.

Because you said so, right? This guy, he knows everything.

I think it would be cool, even it was the same as the blocks breaking apart.

I'd be fine with ragdolls. But I'm sure plenty of parents would find the player character (which looks a tad more realistic that the Roblox characters brought up earlier -_-) falling into multiple gory limp and torso chunks to be a little over the top.

Cant afford to alienate a playerbase by adding gore, but maybe as skylord suggested you could edit some animations and make a gory version for yourself and the select few.

And if your going for the khorne style, maybe their head explodes and their skull gets sucked into the warp

    No need for Gorey goop.
Just bits flying off, like how blocks break apart. Blood could cause some issues so there isn't a need to implement it.
I never suggested adding gore btw (although I would love it) since it could cause some problems.
Just think of it like a block getting cut up by a light-saber (thats what the current blocks look like).

Players could also 'disintegrate' like on every sci-fi ever.

I'm pretty sure most deaths from a laser weapon do not result in the victim breaking apart into many chunks.

I'm going to continue to say "no" to this. Just have the astronauts ragdoll.

LOL. How many kids have seen star wars? There are bodies being disassembled in that.

As a parent, I see no reason why this should not be allowed in the game. If there is no real anatomy involved just parts breaking off, I think this is a great idea. However, I do tend to think this could be easily modded for a more mature audience. *wink wink*

Anyone saying that gore or dismemberment would drive kids away is just straight up wrong. Kids love edgy stuff. Maybe not their parents— Who are too busy not parenting to notice, but kids themselves do.

Anyway, no, dismemberment is just out of place for this game and is a cheap novelty where as we still need more core features. Unless we have beam/light sabers implemented. Then it should be a thing because that would only be logical. I still think that players killed by ship weapons that do over 2x the player's max HP should disintegrate with an accompanying disintegration animation and texture overlay, but handheld weapons should just let bodies float or do an animation like it seems to be planned.

I would think ragdolling an astronaut to make a limp dead body would be more disturbing than spitting the astronaut apart into multiple exploding polygons.

Just have them pixelize/disinigrate like in cube world, and have it as an option that it defaultly turned off.

Chunks/pieces are too controversial, but disintegrating into orange dust/sparks when killed by weapons would be a nice touch.

Yea, that would be much easier to render than having them fall apart into tiny cubes(the size of a pixel on the regular character) that would be the same color as what they replaced(john dies, his orange boot starts to fall apart into a bunch of orange cubes, his red glove falls apart into red cubes).

Purely asthetic, unless there is MASSIVE improvements to the game engine you can't have a couple hundred little cubes bouncing around your ship after every death(like turret collision lag but a couple hundred tomes worse). Make them a cloud of particles that hangs there for 30 seconds like dropped items.
