Alright, now you're all playing around in dev i might as well reveal a very imminent visual change.

    New computers.

New computers that look like the old ones, but are new...

Over the past few months i've written a list of textures i wanted to replace. Circuits got hit recently, now the time has come for computers.
But not just CPU units, literally ANYTHING with a screen interface has been given a lick of paint. Deco blocks, CPU's, FX modules, even the Storage block...

With the arrival of emissive computers, i'd rather provide screens that look pretty, that want to be shown off in low light environments. Some to even become animated.

I'll showcase a few sample screens tomorrow, but for now, the above image is a good guideline for the new visuals.

As for the new jump inhibitors, i remember a few requests for them to be orange / red a while back ( therimmer96 i think?). So be it.
However do note they are WiP files and may be a little 'off'.

Oh yea, that's another makers mark on the top / side panels.

I'm confused. If we the players are making these things in our factories, why should they have maker's marks from some other entity? :\

Someone had to design it in the first place

Nice; the only thing that immediately caught my eye is the "S. DRAIN" - I feel it doesn't blend well with the other systems having either their full names or TLAs; how about either "SDC", or "SHIELD DRAIN" using a font size similar to the "RADAR JAMMER" ("R. JAMMER" would look just as odd IMO)?

I must know. Where can I find the EM files? Are they built into normal mapping? I'd like to add them to my texture pack.

    Edit: Never Mind. Found them.

Yup. That's a maker's mark on the new build block.
    Well played sir, well played.
[DOUBLEPOST=1441686497,1441685456][/DOUBLEPOST]Sorry I should explain my "well played statement."

Maker's Mark is a brand of whisky made in Loretto, KY, USA. The bottles are very squarish as the picture shows above. I'll have to try some one of these days.... ;-)

Alpha channel of the normal map. This is why we switched to TGA files.

Do be aware though, the shader uses colour ranges 128 - 0 as emissive strength, and 255 - 129 as specular. The channel is holding two maps simultaneously.

The greyscale block colours in the overlay.png are material shine values (this controls the size of the reflective light "spot"). They are submaps which correspond with the full t00* files, just scaled down by a factor of 4.

Have fun making textures! I'd love to see your progress, be sure to make a thread if you haven't already. :D

Waitwaitwait. So we CAN have shiny gold hull now? Better move that card out of Rejected on the Trello, kupu .
